Pokemon games don't come out early in the year and in we're probably not going to get any game in 2019 since Game Freak likes to put out games for three consecutive years then take a break on the fourth.

Basically, if gen 8 doesn't come out in 2018 then it's not going to come out until 2020.

Would it not be logical that SM is 2016, USM is 2017, they take a break in 2018, and then release in late 2019?

Its probably already been in development for a while. x and y was in development before bw came out. Most of that was probably making models
