Japan has a habit of making fighting monkeys reference only dbz. A boss in kirby on wii, Rajang in monster hunter, probably missed a few.

At least pokemon so far made the monkeys based on other things or Sun Wukong and the dragonball reference is Lucario in saiyan concept, english voice actor, and smash moves and brawl and pokken only.

It's a bit bottom-heavier and lightly colored than normal Sudowoodo. Males have a big, round afro made of moss, complete with a fruit bud for a 'fro pick, while females have a long feather boa made of moss around their neck abd moss earrings on each side of their head instead.

This should have actually happened desu. Normal Primeape in SM is painful.

Constantly threatened, Sudowoodo adapted in Alola by using its natural sulfur to create explosions to ward off enemies
Learns moves like Selfdestruct and Explosion

Alolan Gliscor
Dark/Flying
Based of superheroes, particularly Batman

Raised in the city by trainers and witnessing crimes by local evil teams, some Gliscor, inspired by the theatricality of pokemon like Hawlucha, decide to take the law into their own hands to protect weak and innocent Pokemon from danger

There was even an anime episode about this I think
