What do you remember of the Pokemon craze of the late 90s-early 00s?

lots and lots of bootleg merch, as well as pokemon branded toys that don't actually have any pokemon on them - just the logo.

lots of kids running to their teachers crying whenever they regretted bad TCG trades during recesses

Honestly, I grew up in the 90s and 2000s, and don't remember Pokemania at school. I do remember going with my cousin to a toy store, and I got a starter deck of Pokemon cards.
