So im finally set on playing one of the newer pokemon games!

I would just keep going from ruby and sapphire

Since Crystal there are 550 new Pokemon. You gonna honestly not recognize 90% of them just skipping into newest ones

Keep going in order and get to know each generation.

I jumped straight to gen 6 from 3 and that shit is pretty good.

The 3ds games are very polarizing. Alot of critism for the games.

I would go with x and y since it has the most variety Pokemon and it's more traditional Pokemon game but I wouldn't tell you to buy it. Emulate it
