Even though GF are just as cashgrabby as the other companies, I appreciate the fact they have never released paid DLC. Releasing DLC might seem cool at first, but it just encourages developers to release half-assed games, so then they can charge us more and more to get the full-on game. Just look at Mario Kart and Pokken for Wii/Switch.

Honestly their versions were essentially DLC with a $40 price tag. It made good games better, but the fact that everything runs on money throws the idea integrity out the window. DLC just seems like a "pay if you wanna play the FULL game"

That's often true but not always. Mario Kart 8 had good DLC. Pokken was okay up until they decided not to bring the arcade stuff over. Switch ports are basically Game of the Year editions. Some of Nintendo's DLC has been bullshit (see Fire Emblem, especially with Echoes and THAT FUCKING PRICE), but MOST of it has been developed after the fact.

Masuda or someone said they don't like to have DLC because the game is for children and they think its wrong to continue charging people for extra stuff.

Usually what ends up happening is shit that would probably be DLC in another game is saved and reworked into a new version a few years later.

Event Pokémon are already programmed into the game. The events to get them are DLC, but the Pokémon themselves are not.
