His design is shit, which is amplified even more because his female counterpart is arguably the best designed protagonist in the series. Maybe if someone with an objectively bad design like Kris was his counterpart, he wouldn't get so much shit.

He LOOKS like a kid. That's a problem. Make him grow up and buff him up to look like an average late teen male, and he's suddenly a lot better. Take of his hat and make fix his round, childlike face, and you're done.
Additionally, if you fix his beta personality that lets him be dragged everywhere by Barry or whatever, he can at least be watered down Mikado, if nothing else.
