Y'know, you guys didn't have a problem with the gender ratio for the past seventeen years, but now with Primarina being so effeminate, you all have a piss pout.

Well fuck all of you who are just now giving a damn about their Pokemon's gender. I have resetted a game more times I can count in search of a female Torchic with a Quiet nature or a female Piplup with a Special Attack-boosting nature.

I never understood the gender ratio. I don't think that more boys play Pokemon than girls.

I've only ever had a problem with it when it makes no fucking sense.
For Combee/Vespiquen and Salandit/Salazzle, it makes sense because of their species.
It makes no sense for the starters, Zorua/Zoroark, Riolu/Lucario, Munchlax/Snorlax, Togepi and its evolutions, the fossilmons, or Eevee and its evolutions.
It's like the only reason the gender ratio is imposed on them is to punish people who want to try and breed competitive versions of them with egg moves, ESPECIALLY if they have a decent hidden ability.

Because it IS like that. Those Pokemon have gender ratios skewed towards male to make it harder to breed them.

This is because those Pokemon are mainly starter/special/event Pokemon.

The gender ratio was implemented to make it more difficult to breed rare starters. But they also made Ditto a copying machine, so it was kind of pointless in the first place.

Pokemon genders, are, for the most part, aesthetic. It just doesn't feel right when your Sylveon is a male.

It would be worthwhile if genders affected stats. Like all males have a 10% increase in Attack, Special Attack, & Speed while females had a 10% increase in HP, Defense, & Special Defense.

In my headcanon, female starters are rare because the nurseries vet Pokemon that are to be distributed by professors. Nurseries need more females than males, so they keep most of the females. The daycare even examines eggs of starters & withhold the eggs that will hatch female. Of course, they cannot keep all the females, & some Pokemon they cannot tell the gender upon hatching so those hatchlings go to professors.
