It's real simple. There is some plague or disease that is infecting pokemon and they need the dna of mew. Long story short, a nefarious group takes over the plans and creates mewthree to rule the world like they always do

Mewthree sounds kind of dumb. For some reason mewtwo is okay, probably because it was there since the beginning and we just kind of went with it.

for fucks sake, what´s with gen 1 and this unbelievable lore stuff. The whole fucking game was based on that. Go into Mystery house to learn that there is a super strong pokemon somewhere. Getting know Fuji and in FRLG even seeing him with pyro. First Movie literally has dr. Fuji and in Emerald you can read the -ji in the name.

XY also had great lore, but was never expanded on. RSE with the weather gods had nothing, DPP had the creation of the universe theme, which was also great. But nothing came even comparable to fucking Gen1.

Gen 1 sometimes really feels like a game made from FROM.
