The reason why Arceus has multiple pronunciations is an elusion to different Religions, who have different beliefs and ways to interpret the creator.
Good job. The thread's real shit.

The reason why a snake is named a snake is that snake backwards is Ekans.

The real reason Grimer is named Grimer is because Slimer was trademarked by the Ghostbusters.

That's allusion, bub. Not an illusion, not an elusion, and certainly not an ullusion. Ollusion is right out. Allusion.

The reason why Arceus has multiple pronunciations is because it was definitively "Arse-eus" until Game Freak realized why all the white guys giggled whenever they said his name.
>>32703324
That's retarded. The reason they pronounce it as Ar-kay-us now is because arse means ass in Europe, so it essentially just becomes Assius.

If they're so uptight about that why the hell was Cofagrigus a thing the gen right after?
>>32704208
because pronunciation-wise, it's generally "Co-fu/fa/fe-gri-jus/gus. It's problem is spelling. You don't say "fag" as a syllable even when you pronounce it the "A" way.
Similarly, Probopass is generally pronounced "Pro-bo-pass". There isn't an "ass" syllable, it's "pass". Nobody says "Pro-bop-ass"
Arseus literally is a hard "Ars" sound right in the beginning, followed by a long vowel that not only isolates the syllable, but further makes you pause for a bit.

I hear people say it as 'Cuh-fag-riggus' all the time though, but I understand Probopass.

I mean, I didn't realize Cofagrigus' name was a no-no until after the GTS told me so, but I recognized Arseus instantly the first time I heard it said in the movie, and I was like, 12. And not british.
