Why do you think game freak stopped doing crossgen evolutions? Do you think any other mons desperately need evos?

Mega Evolution and Alolan forms basically replaced cross-gen evos for their respective generations in terms of being a "This old Pokémon has something new" mechanic.

They stopped doing them because of evolite.
Probably they're only gonna do eeveelutions as the only cros gen evos.

Gen 8 will have:
- New Regional Formes akin to Alola formes for Johto pokemon
- A few new evolutions for old pokemon in the syle of Slowking and Politoed
- Very small selection of megas of gen 5-7 pokemon
- More gen 4 megas with the Diamond and Pearl remakes.

All on Switch.
