Honestly, probably the first mainline game I have not been too excited for. Granted, part of that is because they did a shitty fucking job showing what will be different about it, and part of it is keeping it on the 3DS.

Platinum really wasn't as big an upgrade to DP as people like to say they were. Yes it had a better dex, yes they fixed the slow gamespeed slightly, yes it had some more content, but even with all that is not at all worth the full price of admission if you had already bought DP because it was basically the same damn game. The amount of content that third versions add was always less than what I'd get out of an expansion pack for some other RPG yet they've always charged the full amount for it because they know Pokemon fans are suckers who will put down the money.

I know people meme about it a lot but I probably would've dropped money for yet another Kanto remake even. I've never bought third versions (BW2 being the exception, and even then I was pretty hesitant) because I've never understood why people found it worth the $50 to play a slightly better version of a game they just played a year or two ago and they can still go replay. Totally fair opinion. Given that, HGSS probably wouldn't have been any better for you than ORAS.

It's also why, if you have to do third versions/remakes, stuff like BW2 is the way to go. It wasn't a full new generation, but it included so many new features, an expanded region, new characters... I hope that USUM is closer to that, even if it is a traditional "enhanced version" rather than a sequel.
