Fun fact. The Nipponese always called them DiaPer. DP is also commonly used, but the Nipponese have a tendency of abridging words by taking their first two Kana letters. So, they took "Dai" and "Paru" from "Daiyamondo" and "Pāru" and called it "DaiParu", DiaPer.
SM, though, were never called SuMo, because Sun and Moon are short words and were thus not abridged in any other way besides SM.
