After watching on and off for like eighteen years, the next movie is finally what convinced me the show will never end. The Ho-oh plotline is literally the earliest one established and they're burning through it in an AU movie, if they had any intentions of ending the show officially, an explanation of why it appeared to Ash would have been held back until that occurred.

If beforehand OLM knew about the sequels and that they'd be releasing really quickly the might have chosen to adapt closer to the story or events that happen in USM. So basically they have a yaer to fill with barebones story so they can go all out with USM.

It'd explain why they used every single event mon for SM in movie 20 and saved the box legendarys. They want to eliminate all of SM's needed shilling so they can go all out with USM.
