The coloring work on a majority of the sprites is downright atrocious, many of the sprites look like they're just cheaply pasted from the anime without considering the limitations of the gameboy, and some poor Pokemon just got hideous, hideous designs for no real reason (poor Ratata.)
Give me Red and Blue's janky fat sprites anyday. They're all kind of ugly, but at least they have character, and they don't look like they're from some shitty pirated version of a Pokemon game.

Started with Red back in the day. But all of the scores are based on my current point of view.

The series ahs great gameplay, held u quite nice. But has horrid music and only the BW and SM has a story that I actually consider decent.

To bad they fucked up BW's story with the horrible mess that was BW2.

Agree to disagree. I liked the theme of BW's story (and the execution) a lot more then SM.

Either way, Pokemon is not game that will ever get known for it's storytelling capabilities.

Imagine ever havong someone like Chris Avellone helming the story for a Pokemon game (with the theme of BW1), that would be the ultimate dream for me.

Disclaimer. I'm near the end in Red. Never played Yellow, nor Crystal. Didn't get that far in Gold because used game save was corrupted

Why?
I concur on SM, cause there really are a lot of cutscenes, but they're still very re-playable:

You can replay it 20~ times (or more) without using any evolutionary line twice ever, and don't get me started on all the possible team combinations you can pull out with 300 pokes in regional dex.

For me, every time I use different pokes is a different experience. I don't know if you play your game twice in a row till you burn out, I usually replay a gen every 18 months or so, and every time is a beatiful, renewed experience.

Why people seems to like more the Bw ost than the SM and DPPt ones??
Well i like Jazzy music that's probably the reason why i love those soundtracks, but , all in all i think that in the Shota Kageyama era the compositions lack complexity.

BW is very varied, though I prefer Sinnoh and Johto music too. DPPt soundfont expecially.
RSE ost is very, very well composed, but the soundfont is just... ew

Silly, isn't it? The only thing I remember about GS's graphics is an ugly-brown palette, and night time, but my memory is shit. Google is showing me a shitload of green.

DP's ost had a... unique style to it. I preferred BW's style and BW's also reminded me of BAttle Network/Star Force. SM's ost is AMAZING, my only issue is that the tracks are too short.
