I have watched and read up to Part 4. I refuse to read any further, for two reasons. One, I can't hear the voices, I can just imagine them. Two, I can't read moonrunes and I refuse to read translated manga, where I can't know the original dialogue.

Caught up to Steel Ball Run, now rereading Part 5 because of the better Scans. It's much, much better. After that i'll probably start reading JoJolion and wait for the Part 5 anime.

Part 8 is still ongoing and will be for 1-2 years. You can read it up to date on batoto. They also have the latest part 5 scans that are almost fully retranslated and colored (they said they'll be finished in a month or so)

Is it because they're fan translations? If so then you should know that they're pretty good quality. Pretty much nothing is off compared to crunchyroll subs. At least manga doesn't bucher references. If you need to visualize voices there're always games to refer to (Eyes of heaven has pretty much everyone from the main cast, Abbaccio you can take from an old ps2 game.) Just avoid spoilers when looking into it

It is because it is a translation. I can't know the original dialogue. This is the same as my problem with dubbed anime. Even if the translation and voice acting are good, it doesn't matter. The original will be BETTER. The translation can't improve the original text, on degrade it.
In Subbed anime, I can hear the original voices. Nothing is being lost. Once I'm done watching an episode, I'll go read the manga up to that point. Because the manga is just better. I just don't read the manga before watching the anime, as I don't want anything lost on me.

Alright I get what you're saying. I'm also often afraid of not getting the best experience possible. But you gotta understand that the difference in this case is almost non-existant. One or two mistranslated words won't really take anything away from a great character moment or an amazing fight. Also anime adds and takes away a bit of stuff so it's not like you have the cleanest experience anyway. I'd highly recommend reading it, but if you can't bring yourself to it have fun with your methods
