Yeah it's true. Takes too long to be viable though. Although I'm not sure if it's limited to 1 at a time, a team of 6 Shuckles farming candies might work I guess

Yes. Only in gen 2 though. It's actually very viable since berries are found nearly everywhere while rare candies are uncommon. Just give a berry to a shuckle, continue on with whatever else you're doing, then check on shuckle and repeat.

It's still Shuckle; it can learn Mimic in gen iii and use Ice Ball that way.
