Based on what people have said about their favorite gens:

BW2 but with HGSS-level fanservice/characterization and graphics like Battle Revolution but HD. Trainer proportions are Gen 6 battle model tier and series takes inspiration from Pokemon Ranger while keeping traveling/breaking through obstacles as open ended as BOTW (i.e. you can either Cut that tree blocking your way or burn it down or have your Heracross bulldoze it, etc).

Anything that doesn't feel like the game is just a tool to play competitive (namely VGC) Pokemon. Actually have some focus on the single players outside of the story memes and stop adding gimmicks (like terrain abilities) to entertain competitive viewers.
