there are too many digimon to choose from and no real fan favorites aside from a handful. not to mention people generally only have 1-2 digimon instead of possibly hundreds of pokemon. that and there are a lot more digimon that surpass godhood than there are pokemon, balancing would be a mess and it would probably have to devolve into something similar to pokken, rumble, or snap

I think the best way to do so its a card game. As in, an in universe cardgame(like the pokemon tcg video game). So you're allowed to excuse the differences in power and lore between the two. And tcg are important parts of both franchises.

Either that or tweak digimon's rules. Digimon is used to that anyways.
