I liked the game but what I didn't like was that like most sidegames, it takes place in a world that doesn't look like the pokémon world, fuck that techno shit.

I want to have the best songs from the main games remixed as I battle, I want to fight in pallet town, at the top of the radio tower, in fortree city, at spear pillar, in the pokémon league, at the sevii islands or whatever, not some random city, that, sure it looks cool but I don't care about it.

Make the whole region explorable in 3d like gale of darkness while trainer battles just transition you into a regular fight. It could be that there is a strange aesthetic to the game. I don't know how to say it, but it seems like the textures, or something else about the visual design of the game, is not typical of pokemon games. Possibly this turns some people off?

It didn't die. The online is still active and it still has a pretty decent compettitive scene. People just think it died and there's not a lot of visible hype or disscusion online about it outside of the main discord everybody uses

3. It being nintendo, combined with it;s intial poor showing at EVO, turned off the FGC
4. Being too much of a traditional fighter for smash fans
