how to use toucan sam? why does it even get sheer force?

Sheer Force sucks since you can only use it with Rock Smash and Steel Wing. Skill Link is better.

Toucannon isn't exactly the best Pokemon, but since you're asking how to use it, I'm gonna assume you already knew that anyway. You can try a "bulky" set with Swords Dance and Substitute, or pair Flyinium Z with something. Also, Toucannon gets Overheat, so you could use that to get past certain Steel types. Toucannon also gets Boomburst, so a specially offensive set could... technically work???? It's obviously worse, but meme sets are fun, even if they don't always work all the time.

Bottom line is that Toucannon is definitely not that good at all, but you probably know that, so just try any set with it the best you can.

I'm aware toucannon isn't gonna make a mark on ubers or something, and I knew sheer force was useless, I just wanted to know what went through their heads since it only gets like 3 moves that work with it (you forgot flame charge)
I assume bullet seed is good to have, maybe something like sub/roost/swords/bulletseed, as for items I dunno, life orb? leftovers?

Hurricane is unreliable without rain support and rain neuters the damage output of Overheat.
Its best to run either Hidden Power(lol that sucks) or U-Turn on the last slot.

Fun fact, Sheer Force boosted Flame Charge is as strong as Fire Fang. So you can run a Swords Dance set with Sun support and incinerate any Steel type after a boost without taking Life Orb recoil.

Nice trips, but with skill link fury attack is stronger than boomburst:

>252+ Atk Toucannon Fury Attack (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Spinda: 200-240 (61.7 - 74%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Overheat is slightly stronger than flame charge, but you'll get shittier SpA after a single OH whereas FC raises your speed. Rock blast hits harder than overheat anyways.

I think bullet seed, flame charge/roost, beak blast and rock blast with skill link, life orb/expert belt and adamant nature might be a better set for it.

Z-Tailwind gives each hit a 50% of being a crit, giving the multi hit moves a slight damage boost each time and allowing you to potentially fre a full power Overheat multiple times.

It's also entirely luck based, has no STAB and is ultimately not worth it, but it's a meme set so whatever.
