Charizard is crippled by Rock X2 weakness and lacks notability so it can be replaced by any other fire type. Blastoise is above average for a water type but outclassed by Starmie/Slowbro/Lapras.

Sidenote, I usually pick whichever starter I can't get the same type of early on, so usually fire. They should have a game where there are.plentiful fire types at the start and fewer grass/water randoms. (Unless they already did and I'm just forgetting something)
