I had a similar thing in Gen 4. I lost to the Elite four the first time round, then decided to get into EV training, breeding etc. and ended up with a Level 100, Jolly EV trained Weavile which OHKO'd 90% of the Elite Four the next time I tried.

Mewtwo on my Yellow version, nicknamed "Viris" because I couldn't spell Virus. My next two Lv. 100s were Mewtwos named nig Daddy, Lil' Mamma, an Articuno named PerdyBirdy, another Mewtwo named BillyMad, and then in my Silver Version I got Scizor and Lugia up to 100, although I didn't name them because it was getting hard to keep track of what my pokemon were after all these ridiculous and esoteric nicknames.

Never got any of my starters to 100. Bad stuff always happened to them before long, like letting a friend borrow my Feraligatr to breed it to complete his dex changed his mind and then he restarted his game before telling me while he still had my gatr.

The first one I trained myself was a mewtwo. I trained it in firered at daycamp when I was like 11 or 12.

Tips for grinding to lvl 100? Around 80 it just starts to seem like ridiculous amounts

My lucario starter in pokemon glazed.

Nidoking in SoulSilver, just after beating Red for the first time. I picked up a NidoranM from Kanto and was curious when it (and Abra) evolved. I leveled them both up to 30 before learning the special requirements; realizing trading was out of the question, I used my Moon Stone and got myself a pretty killer Nidoking. I grinded it up to like level 93 with it just being at the front of my party most of the time and it nearly soloed Red.

Also I was 14 at the time in 2011, but it was my first Pokémon game, so I didn't know exactly how it worked.

Feraligatr in Silver. I lacked the patience in Gen 1 to reach level 100. The first non-starter I got to level 100 was a shiny Roserade I caught as a Budew in Pearl.

Typhlosion in Gold. I used a Blastoise in Blue, but he only reached mid 80s or something because there were no trainers left to fight after beating the E4 and I saw no point to grinding.

Plus I actually used other Pokemon in Blue so the EXP was split, whereas I basically exclusively used Typhlosion in Gold because Johtomons are so shit.

My flygon in gen 6. Shockingly pokemon Y is the game I've put the most time into. Mostly because that's the game I was using to finish my living dex. Flygon was my lead for exp share.

If you placed them in a PC box their stats would jump up according to accumulated EVs. They still accrued them.
