I've played well over 1000 hours of pokemon and I've never seen a shiny other than Red Gyarados.

First time playing a Pokemon game without my brother (fire red), got a shiny charmander as my starter.
I really wish I hadn't lost my platinum

First random shiny I found was a female Azurill in XY. Found it while trying out Radar chaining, evolved it into an Azumarill.

Second one was a female Octillery I found trying out chain fishing. I haven't tried shiny hunting at all since, and I've yet to ever encounter a random shiny when I wasn't looking for one.

First one I encountered was actually a Caterpie in the Bug-Catching Contest but I freaked out because of the noise and shut off the game. Then I found the red gyarados and felt really fucking retarded. Then I found a shiny Rattata one night but I didn't have any balls. Finally caught this guy in Mt. Mortar and took him to L100 and then it died with the internal batteries rip in piece i crey evry tiem

got it within minutes of getting pokeballs in B2, evolved him into a watchog and I still use him to this day for catching mons, which he does real well.

Caught him by accidentally chain fishing while just trying to catch a normal Sharpedo for my living dex. He's a Sharpedo now. I wish shiny Sharpedo kept the same color scheme though.

This one has a story. Every game I'd played up until this point, I deliberately never used Repels so I would be more likely to find one.

Fast forward to the postgame of Soul Silver. I'm hunting down Latios and it says that it's west of Celadon. I go to Route 16, check my map and I'm in the same spot. I go in the grass and...

"...That's not a Latios." I throw a Quick Ball and catch it, then find out Latios went to the other side of Kanto and resume the search anew...

Well my first shiny was a Mankey in Rock Tunnel while trying to find an Onix in FR, but I accidentally turned off the game before I saved.

My first shiny I still have is a Boldore (now a gigalith) I found as random encounter in Vast Poni Canyon while trying to find Lycanroc Midday.in Sun.

In Crystal, where I won the bug contest on the first try. Also caught Pokerus in the same playthrough. What are the odds?

So much underage...

My first caught shiny was a Tropius in Ruby. I had Crystal, but 6-year old me didn't realize I could save before I fought some Pokemon so I ended up killing the red Gyarados and most of the legendaries. I never saw a Tropius before when I found it, and the star effect scared the shit out of me. I caught it though and I remember being confused as to why the Pokedex's colors were different than the one I caught. Once I finally realized it was shiny, I quickly used my Tropius as a Contest champ. Almost got all the Contest ribbons on it too before I lost the cartridge when my family moved.

Tried to find a shiny Tropius in AS in the same route, but no luck yet.

Found my first shiny in Union Cave in SoulSilver. I hate that I evolved it, shiny Raticate looks almost the same shiny as it does normal.

Not counting the red gyarados this was my first legit shiny, on ruby, i was just playing to get a zangoose to transfer to emerald for dex purposes when that little insect pops up, sadly i didn't have any pokeballs. Later on i managed to catch a shiny unown (A) and a shiny linoone while still doing the dex.

My very 1st shiny was a blue ditto I got in fire red. What was cool about it was that everytime it would transform, it would change to the shiny version of the pokemon it copies. I would spend hours doing double battles figuring out all my favorite pokemon shiny versions.

I actually found 2 shinys today in my Heartgold. My Quilava i was hunting for it, the Slowpoke was completely random.

Got it in Platinum and raised it to 100 over my starter. Transferring it to SM so that I can max out it's EVs and mega evo it. It was Jolly nature too.

It's part of why Lopunny will always be one of my favorite Pokemon.

it was a koffing though. Was playing fire red, going through the cinnabar mansion and got the encounter and i was close to losing it due to the lighting and couldnt tell it was a shiny or not, hopefuly i realised the entry animation was longer than usual and decided to catch it. It now sits into my SS rom on my R4 to live forever.

First one I ever caught was a shiny Swinub in the original Gold. I had Shiny Wurmple and Electrike in Ruby, and then no legit ones until Y version. The first one I found in Y was a shiny blue Ferrosees, but then I found at least 15 legit wild shinies in Y, kind of made the experience not as cool. I also Masuda-ed for Gligar, Zubat, Skrelp, and Surskit.

Pelipper from the grass patch right before the battle tree in S/M, during some level grinding to fill in the dex. Named it Okosan, and hoping to use it as motivation to do some bottlecap hunting/ ev training/ moveset optimising. Definitely transferring up through the rest of the games from now on, I love it that much <3

In Heart Gold. In the same run the very first pokemon I ran into was a Shiny Sentret before you get pokeballs, and the last pokemon I run into right before stepping into pallet town was this top percentage rattata.
