I agree. But why is it that the Misty fans are always the most vocal about her character leaving? Like fans of all the other characters accepted their departures, and even though it would be nice to see them again, we all know it isn't likely to happen.

You are vastly over-estimating how many people want Misty back. Sure there are some who want her back, but most people have moved on.

But if you must insist, its because of shipping. Before amour happened, pokeshipping was Ash's most popular ship. While people did ship May, Dawn and to a lesser extent, Iris, Misty was the more popular pairing because she was the first and had the most blatant ship teases of the female leads.

Now that Serena came and went and is the only one to have a full blown crush on Ash, the Misty train was replaced with Serena. Misty isn't popular nowadays anyway. There are tons of fans who haven't even grown up with her.

Misty isn't even popular anymore either. She's probably the second least liked female companion overall in the fandom. However, haters want to make her fanbase seem bigger to justify their hate for her.

Misty and Brock probably will return at some point, they're too popular compared to everyone else to not play a part again. The show will keep spinning their wheels with what they're doing now for the time being as the ratings continue to slide, but they know normies don't give a shit about the companions beyond those two.
