Hi this is John G. Freak from Game Freak, do you mind if we use this for our next game?
>>32611431
Honestly I always thought this interpretation was prettycool
>>32611431
But is it as autistic as this?
If you like this, you probably should get diagnosed.
>>32611515
We all have things we're afraid of whether we like to admit it or not.

Why are you typing like that?
Do you have water on the brain?
>>32611526
actually, if day this is more unrealistic than it could be
The vanillite line is proven to have snow covering it, so the white "ice cream" part isn't apart of them.
It seems to be apart of the spider, however. There are plenty of animals who use a similar tactic who could've better represented the actual Pokemon
So yes, arvalis is autistic sometimes with his drawings
What's more believable, a sentient ghost tree in a world with believable life or a land octopus using hollowed tree trunksHint: It's The Tree
>>32612485
Unbelievable life*
>>32612485
>There are plenty of animals who use a similar tactic who could've better represented the actual Pokemon
Like what?
>>32612485
Not even a fan of arvalis but you gags really are missing the point. The point is to try and interpret pokemon designs through things that already exist.
Octopuses already exist. Whether or not they came live on land and inhabit dead trees doesn't matter. The point is that an octopus is a real animal.
Ghosts and living ice cream cones don't exist.
>>32612485
>what's more believable, a supernatural entity, or a real world animal
hmmmm really makes you think
>>32613024
This. It's not trying to be super realistic designs, it's just a cool and different take on both pokemon designs and real life animals. Not exactly a fan either, but I appreciate the guy's creativity over just taking an existing design and making it HYPER-REALISTIC by just upping the detail and adding all sorts of stupid shit.
>>32612110
Found the spider.
>>32611600
The backside of spiders are fine. It's the close ups of their heads that get me.
>>32612485
well, what other animals are there?
i hate this artist, he miss the concept of all pokemons
>>32612121
Not being afraid of spiders isn't being tough, its realizing that you are far too large for a spider to harm. Unless of course it is some kind of brazillian wandering spider or something

>>32611531
FREAKING WHY
>>32611913
>pikachu used tackle instead of thunderbolt

>>32611531
I hate when people make their "realistic" Pokemon repulsive looking.
They can look realistic and not look gross you know.
I think people really are missing the point of the artwork. The artist is trying to make the Pokemon fit into the real world as much as possible - for instance, there is no creature on Earth that resembles the vanilluxe line in any way, shape, or form, so they drew it as a spider because spiders and other arachnids/insects often have patterns on their bodies mimicking other animals or scenery. It's a way to represent an unbelievable creature in an believable way. As for Dragonite, the only real life creature that it resembles in looks and biology (amphibious) is a salamander, so they drew it as a salamander-like creature. He makes hem a little monstrous, and I agree some of his renditions of mons are ick (Eeveelutions) but I think both of these renditions are pretty creative.

Anything that uses something removable like hermit crabs and their shells/anemones they or on their shells
Or simply their environment like the six eyed spider that covers itself in sand
Fuck, jumping spiders wear water droplets on their heads to cool off
The point of vanillite is that the snow was more of a camoflauge it wasn't the pokemon; this could've easily been represented in arvalis' artwork, you've could've even kept it as a spider as there are spiders that live in arctic environments so it would've been realistic enough
>>32613050
>real world
>octopi can survive 60 minutes MAX out of water
>cephalopods are exclusively marine
Yeah, very life like
In a world already filled with creatures with supernatural abilities a sentient, mobile tree isn't that fantastic. You have that shit in just about every basic fairy tale world
I don't hate most of arvalis' work. I LOVE his gastly line and find it very creative.
I think the octopus is the one I hate the most, seriously man, an octopus? You couldn't think of anything better? Like some sort of mammal or insect that used the wood as protection would've been better; model it off of something that lives in trees.
Also his dragonite is gross.
>>32615002
>Anything that uses something removable like hermit crabs and their shells/anemones they or on their shells
Why? Vanilluxe has nothing to do with removing anything.
>Fuck, jumping spiders wear water droplets on their heads to cool off
Yes and it looks nothing like Vanilluxe's shape.
>The point of vanillite is that the snow was more of a camoflauge
No it's not. The point is that it's a fucking cartoon ice cream cone. Camouflage has nothing to do with it and you're just pretending the design is more clever than it actually is.
>>32615050
>Camouflageis the use of any combination of materials, coloration, or illumination for concealment, either by making animals or objects hard to see (crypsis), or by disguising them as something else (mimesis)
>disguising them as something else
>everyone thinks it's "ice cream"
>surprised when it's not "ice cream"
Spiders also don't look like fucking ice cream you dipshit. Nothing natural looks like ice cream or has a shape similar to ice cream.
This is vanillite btw
Fuck this. Post decent realistic pokemon instead.
What the fuck even is this?
Smogon is autism incarnate
>>32615723
they didn't even try
>>32615231
Well? Go on....
>>32615188
>>everyone thinks it's "ice cream"
But it IS ice cream. It's not "disguising" as anything. Its design just happens to have snow stylized to look like ice cream. Again, you're making the design look more clever than it actually is and way overemphasizing the importance of it being an icicle when it has no relevance anywhere. The guy chose a spider because it can be shaped like a Vanilluxe when shown vertically on a web. That doesn't work with any other animal.
At least it doesn't get worse than "realistic" Jigglypuff. I'm not kidding. Look it up. You'll know exactly which one I mean.
This one's pretty decent
PS: Can anyone create a colored version?
