even with my favorite pokemon (which this doesn't), NO
>>
That's almost half my monthly income. No thanks.
>>
If I had money to waste, yeah.
>>
>>32602583
This aesthetic is right up my alley, and the art itself is so well-done.
I'd pay $250 for it, maybe $300. As much as I love it, I can't afford to shell out $500 right now.
>>
Can I pay $250 and only buy the right half?
>>
>>32602619
You only make ~$12k a year?
That sucks.
>>
>>32603262
Times are tough, and I was too dumb and lazy in school.

At least I can understand its worth, being both official AND is hand-painted on wood, instead of being like that one retarded anon who paid over $500 to have himself drawn with his Charizard by a fan artist (who wasn't that good at mimicking Sugimori's style to begin with).
>>
>>32602583
No, I'm not a weeb. Why the fuck would I want anything pokémon related on my walls?
I'm not necessary against having a Japanese or otherwise oriental wood carving though, but not of fucking pokémon. That also requires it to match the rest of your interior. You can't just hang up a random wood carving on the wall and expect it to look good. Unfortunately it wouldn't fit in my current apartment which is mainly decorated by real watercolor artworks.
>>
>>32603300
I'm dumb at art so could you explain what about this picture is bad and un-sugimori. No bully please.
>>
>>32603328
Contrary to what most of /vp/ thinks, there's more to Sugi than just white, blotchy highlights.

Why would I ever buy wood that can't ejaculate semen in me?
>>
>>32603353
That doesn't really explain it. I know his lines are jagged but that's really the only thing I can tell the difference from his stuff and Ohmori.
>>
>>32603374
It's badly drawn. It's hard to really put a finger on it, it's like trying to explain what's off with a meal you're not really enjoying, without comparing it to something.
>>
>>32603328
The artist was supposedly supposed to go for Sugimori's older style, but it looks like it was meshing up all of his years of style evolution into one. Like, with his older style, male characters were drawn more... I guess the word would be bulkier? And this artist over-did the "blotchy" watercolors.
>>
>>32603272
Become a pharmacy tech you dumb ass
>>
>>32603374
Also he's terrible at perspective, and everything just has an awkward, traced look to it.
>>
>>32603440
It doesn't work like than in my country.
>>
>>32602583
too detailed
>>
>>32603423
Calling it bad is way too hash. It is certainly a decent verging on good drawing. Sure there are some things that bother me, like the way the version in the brown shirt holds his hand looks very unnatural, the hands of the guy with the scarf are widely different in size and the way the version in the middle holds the trophy makes no sense, you should see much more of the back of the hand on the left. .
I certainly wouldn't pay 500 for it, despite it being fairly evident from the amount of detail that quite some time went into it. But then again I have never seen the appeal of artists who just try to copy other artists as closely as possible instead of making their own style.
>>
>>32602583
And have that cringe up in one my walls? Nope
>>
>>32603432
>>32603432
Okay looking at actual old Sugimori, I'm starting to see what you mean. In comparsion, it's more stiff and definitely overuses the watercolor effect. Lines have little variation.
>>32603451
I figured it was more like a movie poster where all the people are supposed to be visible. The bike and trophy adhere to basic perspective within their respective figure. I kinda see the traced look though.

>Save image
>Print it out on some card stock at the print shop for 5$

Do what you will I have already won
>>
>>32603506
>nobody's bad, just good in a different way

This isn't deviant art, we don't have to lie to avoid hurting the feelings of bad artists.
>>32603536
When I said perspective, I meant more that this person doesn't understand that a person's eyes aren't placed together on the same side of their face like some kind of flounder, and really basic stuff like that
>>
>>32603328
Here's an example of what >>32603300 mashed together. Like he mixed both Gen I and Gen IV mainly.
>>
>>32603588
I didn't say he was good, just alright.
But sure this is 4chan and there is nothing between great and pure garbage.

>it's wood-carved
It's a woodblock print. The print is actually on paper.

Basically woodblocks are carved for different parts of the drawing. And then the multiple woodblocks are stamped on a piece of paper to make the full drawing.

>gen I design of Red
>leftovers and anorexic pika
It is trash.
>>
>>32602583
If I had that kind of money I'd get off my lazy ass and learn to make it myself.
>>
>>32603690
That was the only art class I took where I enjoyed it and got an A at the same time.
>>
>Could use this money to buy a new PC or PS4
nah
>>
>>32602583
I would if it were actually wood, you're just getting an old timey print piece that they think is worth $450
