Pokémon Special Sun and Moon chapter 7

Moon feels like she has an affinity for Gladion, and Hau and Sun are already friends. I really like where this is going. I hope this will lead to all 5 of them becoming close over the course and we get a DPPt-like group again. I already love the characters, so seeing them together will be really fun.

And obviously, Moon lost to Gladion. Of course, she never had a chance. So far, she's been pretty weak. Gladion didn't even have to use Null. Despite that, though, she's really confident with herself. Probably because she thought she had it all figured out, understandably enough. Gladion just overpowered her. Not her fault she lost. Gladion was just better at battling.

But because she poisoned Porygon, Gladion couldn't use it against Sun. He let his pride and edge take over and didn't rest. That gave Sun an advantage. Sun vs Gladion cleared up one things. Dollar is strong, but it isn't as OP as we thought it was. Guzma was probably just a pushover.

Another thing this fight cleared up was Sun's goal. He is laid back, but he isn't money hungry to get rich. He has his reasons. Looking forward to seeing that play out.

The stone from last chapter really was a Sparkling Stone, and that let Sun win. It feels like he just cheated. I mean, sure, Null was too strong a Pokemon to fight two base stage Pokemon, but using a Z-move still doesn't seem fair. So because of that, Sun kept his perfect win streak going.
And Gladion is just up against Ultra Beasts. He knows about them, and he wants to fight them. Already different from the games. Looking forward to that too.

Lastly, turns out Sun's encounter with Tapu Koko didn't disqualify him, as he still won and got the reward. And he's in the middle of the ocean for some reason. Considering he has Rotomdex, Kukui probably knows about it, so I doubt he's in any trouble. I'm assuming the next chapter will mainly focus on him. Looking forward to that too.

Interesting. I hope moon will have more link and bonds to gladion and Lillie than sun, and she will push theur family subplot.

As much as I love those pairing, I'm personally hoping for just equal time between them. I think Sun and Gladion would make nice burden buddies and rivals. The only one I'm worried about is Hau. He is a ball of cuteness, and Gladion hates him while Moon has zero interest in him. Sun is the only one he has gotten along so far.

I wish I could like Sun, but good god I hate him more than any protagonist so far in every way. Words cannot express how much I dislike this character.

Starting to like Moon a lot less too, but Gladion is shaping up to be more interesting than I thought he would be.

Also strange that Dollar is suddenly not immune to bug type attacks. I suppose it's because Null is a legendary Pokemon but still strange that it could shrug off bug type attacks before but suffered an KO now.

It doesn't. All SM Chapters officially come out on 21st.

I get my copy on the 23rd since I live in the USA and it shipped from Japan, and it gets released on the 24th after scanning, editing, redraws, cleaning, typesetting, and also having the rest of the team proofread the script.

So I'm probably retarded for asking this but here goes.
Where can I read the full series for the B2W2 and XY arcs? JB2448 doesn't seem to have either of these in full and english.

If it makes any of you feel better, I dislike both SM and B2W2.

I had way more fun working on 19-21 XY chapters more than the two combined.

The manga is just simply not really good. Its pacing is bad because it's only one publication doing the manga. In Spe's glory days, they used to have 3-4 monthly magazines, which ultimately meant 4 chapters.

Sure page-wise it's probably like 30-40 pages altogether, but it forces the writer to get stuff done.

But now we just get 25 pages or so for SM and B2W2. I really just want B2W2 to end awfully so that SM can get more pages if Pokemon Fan picks it up as well.

This is what happens when you try to be ambitious and create an entire dedicated arc to B2W2 when you probably should've merged it with BW like how Crystal's arc was merged into the GS arc.

Everyone dislikes the game for its difficulty. But it was the easiest game to get into Competitive. So much of my friends finally got into competitive with Gen 6.

The anime did pretty well till the end.
The manga was always great from start to finish.

And anon, you're using the term "pacing" misleadingly. Release date and story pacing are different things. The story is paced just fine.

Production pacing is awful, yeah. It can lead into story pacing issues as shown in HGSS. It got cancelled for BW because production-wise, it didn't have time to fit what the writer wanted. They added so much chapters in the Volume release, but it still felt pretty rushed.

Perhaps I'm not so attached to SM like everyone else is. I like Sun, cool cat dude. He's meme material. I like Moon and I like Hau, but I hope the story finally starts getting started.

These past 7 chapters have been purely build up and exposition bombs.

It can, yes, but it hasn't for SM. Yet. Even if a new game comes out, I doubt SM would suffer from that. The "first game" arcs usually stick with their story, regardless of work load. XY survived and turned out to be pretty good while being in-between BW2, ORAS and now SM, so I see no real reason to worry about SM in that regard.

As for SM, I'm in somewhat the same position. It has been just build up, and not a lot of interesting things have happened. We got a tournament, but because the winner had two base stage Pokemon, the fights weren't very visually interesting. They still featured some good moments and led to some characterization for everyone, even Guzma, but they still didn't look or feel exciting.
That said, it's the same every time. The beginning of every story starts of like this, simple and building up to later events. Compared to most, I've been enjoying SM a lot. Because the characters are all fun to watch, even in mundane situations. All of them are cute and fun, which has made even the build up enjoyable. More so than it is in most stories, including most of PokeSpe arcs.
