Let's be honest, that's gotta be the darkest thing the franchise has pulled off yet. I mean yeah there's mention of predator - prey relationships every now and then but we've never actually seen it.

I was sad as well, but the money boosts you get from doing the leage over really make up for that. That, and I got a golden karp right after, only 4th gen as well.

If any events ask you if you're sure about your choice that means Magikarp can die.

This happened to me as well with a karp that was almost at max lvl. Didn't know something like this could happened I thought maybe lose some JP if you failed not freaking death. I now skip the berry tree event.

The first time that happened to me, I thought it was just a joke or something and that my Karp would eventually be returned to me.

Is there any stats on how often different events will kill you? So far the ones I've seen that I know can kill you:
-Getting a berry from a tree (I'm on about 5 successes, 0 fails)
-A Poké Ball actually being a Voltorb (3 successes, 1 fail)
-I think the glittering object underwater can kill you (2 successes, ~5 small fails)
-I assume getting lost can kill you (~5 succeses, 0 fails)

With all these new Magikarp patterns, I wonder how their respective Gyrados look like.

I do not think we will ever find out. I do hope that there's a lime green Gyrados somewhere.
