The Pokemon 3DS models are already fucking stupidly complex for 3DS so of course they hire advance modelers. Also Gamefreak has never worked on an RPG besides Pokemon internally.

if they're hiring new modelers just now that means that the switch game is in very early development, so i would give it at least a year and half more before it's release.
With that in mind it would make much more sense for them to make a quick 3DS game reusing what ever they can from SM, just like ORAS did with XY, so they can release a pokemon game soon and have more time to develop whatever this first switch pokemon game is.

I sure fucking hope we don't get gen 8 so quickly yet. Pokemon only survived as long as it did because the new generations were intelligently spaced out so that people had enough time to enjoy the games and make themselves familiar with all of the new designs. Hardcore fans who couldn't get enough could enjoy remakes/enhanced editions in a meantime. Making the gens bi-yearly or even yearly is just condemning the series into the Yokai Watch's fate. The franchise fatigue will kick in very quickly.

And a half years after the new console has launched. Gen 5 lasted 2 years in most of the world. The second gen of a console shouldn't last too long. 2 years is the perfect length for gen 7. Gen 8 should last 3 years just like gen 6 so gen 9 can launch just in time for Pokémon's 25th anniversary .

While Gen 8 would be nice I think Gen 4 remakes are next. If I'm not mistaken remakes come out 12 years after the origanals. And usually pokemon games have a nine month release cycle. So it seems fit to release on the release date of D/P in the west if revealed at E3. Or it could be a shorter cycle and fit the Japanese release date. Either way remakes are coming.

Gen 1 remakes = 8 years after gen 1
Gen 2 remakes = 10 years after gen 2
Gen 3 remakes = 12 years after gen 3
Im expecting the gen 4 remakes to come in either 2019 or 2020 after the gen 8 games. A new remake also comes out every 5 years. I would rather have the dp remakes on the switch. I would rather explore sinnoh in 1080p full hd than in 240p 20 year outdated visuals. sm looks ok but only ok.We should have an upgrade especially if they want to do a remake.

Blame Gamefreaks devs for any issues with Sun and Moon, there's tons of games, like the recently released Fire Emblem that look and play better. GF just wants to use there ridiculous poly count models because there lazy and don't want to make new ones years later. How they gave us chibi shit with XY and ORAS is beyond me.

Hopefully Pokemon stars is 3ds only. And releases for holidays. It's gonna destroy mario and xenoblade sales.
