How do we make pokemon more accessible to new players?

Given enough time the target audience will expect steadily easier and easier access to certain features. It's still a work about to do, but the whole bottle caps for IVs thing is a start.

For the story it's as accessible as it gets. For competitive, probably having a Showdown-like rentals that only work online and in tournaments, but not in-game. It still doesn't make sense to try to make Pokemon an esport if it has such a huge barrier preventing anyone from picking up the game and battle competitively right away, like most games.
