Hey /vp/,
Do you still have your Original GB/GBC with RB or Y?
>>
>>32582606
Yes
>>
>>32582606
No, had to give it to my autistic cousin when I was younger. He broke it the day of.
>>
>>32582606
Unfortunately no.
I did buy a new gameboy from a retro game shop in Akhihabara district in Tokyo when I was there, along with RBY and Green, all in Japanese.
Been waiting for the opportunity to get a GBC with GSC.

yes
i'm surprised it still works
>>
>>32582606
Yeah, still works too.
>>
Why? You can easily emulate the game nowadays.
>>
I have a EU silver and an NA gold. I replaced the battery in the silver version and she can save just regular now. Can't remember the teams I had on either game though
>>
>>32582606
Of course.
>>
>>32582606
I have 2 GBCs, a GBA, 2 GBA SPs, a DS Lite, DSi and a 3DS. I would still have an original GB if it wasn't lost while moving.
>>
>>32582669
I have a GB Pocket, a GBC, a GBA, a GBA SP, 2 DS Lites, a 3DS, and a New 3DS XL. I also have a bunch of home consoles if anyone wants me to list them.
>>
>>32582606
I was forced by my mother to lend my lime green GBC with my original Blue Version to a family friend during a camping trip, sometime around 2001 I think. I had my GBA with Crystal version at the time, so I didn't care too much. But he returned it with sand in the speakers and the screen totally scratched up. To this day the damn thing won't turn on. I don't know what the fuck that asshole did to it.

But yes I still have it in my closet, if only for sentimental reasons. I've never forgiven the fucker who broke it.
>>
>>32582655
Interactions with Stadium/Stadium 2. Infrared features. Trading. Muh authentic experience. Emulating has always been and always will be for plebeians.

my mom gave away my Gameboy Color to somebody because they "didn't have much."

They lost it
>>
>>32582606
Hell yea, but I can't save any progress cause cartridge battery died :((((((
>>
I have Yellow and a Grape GBC but my original Teal GBC was stolen when I was like four by a housekeep.

Yup. My silver cartridge doesn't save anymore because of the battery, unfortunately. I don't touch the other ones anymore out of fear that the same will happen.
>>
>>32582606
No, The oldest handheld I have is my DSLite, my GBAs I have were from garage sales years after I lost my golden GBA.
I have no clue what happened to my GBC and G1 and G2 games.
>>
>>32582746
They're replaceable. Just buy a watch battery
>>
>>32582762
Do you not know how batteries work?
>>
Yes, except for Blue because my sister has it.
>>
>>32582800
I've repaired both my gold and silver cartridges
The specific battery is CR2025
You can buy a two pack at the dollar store for (duh) $1
>>
>>32582800
Nice, I had no idea! Thanks anon :*
>>
I still have my old brick Game Boy and my Game Boy Color. Blue, Yellow, and Silver.

I never play them though. Really no point.
>>
Still have my Teal GBC and Red, Gold, Silver, and Crystal. So far as I know, it would still work if I put batteries in it. It has cat teeth marks in the upper right corner of the screen, but other than that, it's in pretty good condition.
>>
I still have my original grey Game Boy, as well as the lime GBA. They all still work, as far as I know.
>>
>>32582655
doesn't feel the same

Yea, and these. All still factory sealed. I used to just buy a new game every time I wanted to start a new play through. Had them tucked away in a box with my old vidya.
>>
I didn't have video games until i got a gba for my 8th birthday,

I lent my GBC to my little cousin, along with Blue, Silver and a fuckton of other games.

My aunt threw it into the garbage when he started needing glasses, because according to her playing with my fucking GBC was the cause of it. She also binned a GBA from another cousin.

At least my uncle end up divorcing that clinically crazy bitch and keeping the custody, so there's that.
>>
>>32582696
Philips screwdriver, Triwing screwdriver, rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs.
There are also replacement screen covers available for literal pocket change.

Disassemble, give it a good cleaning and I bet it will turn back on. The speaker might be dead by now anyway, but again, replacements can be had for cents but you need to solder.

Consult /vr/ (ideally with pictures) if you need mote pointers. Youtube has a ton of tutorials as well.
I have "saved" several Game Boys (and Colors), they are hardly a total writeoff and most damage is trivial at best.
>>
>>32583309

>throwing someone else's possession away

At the very least tell me you made her pay for it.
>>
I have my original one with Pokemon Crystal.
>>
Still do. Don't know how I ever dealt with it though, shit is hard to look at after you get so used to having a backlight in everything. Unfortunately, the speaker crapped out so I have to use earphones.

Hell yes I do. I'll keep them for the rest of my life.

>tfw I sold Red, Yellow, and Emerald because I was a dumb 15 year old that needed to "grow out of Pokemon"
God, I was so retarded sometimes.
>>
Yep. I've got my yellow GBC along with all of the main-series games from Gen I and II.

They all work perfectly fine as well, aside from Silver because the battery is dead. I replaced the battery in Gold when it died, so I'll probably do the same to Silver when I get the urge to play it again.
>>
>>32582606
I don't have the original Gameboy colors I had, but I do have all of my games. I have all of the English Gameboy Pokemon games except Crystal, since I found the ones I didn't have used for pretty cheap back in the day.

Later in life I realized I could spend my own spare money on whatever I wanted and bought a GBC and a cheap Japanese bundle of all of the Kanto games incl. Green. Now kid me is satisfied, I'm sure.

Sidenote Japanese sellers on eBay are really nice, and every time I've bought something from them they've included something a little extra and a cute engrishy note thanking me for the purchase. The GB Kanto games came with an extra game that I didn't recognize, some kind of F1 Racing RPG that I wish I could play.

I already bought myself one of these beauties off ebay years ago (in perfect condition too). I have no interest in getting my original lime green GBC in working condition. I just hold onto it for sentimental reasons.

I do. Thought I lost my shit so I bought them again on ebay. Check my old shit in storage a couple years later looking for something else and end up finding them. So now I have 2 of each. Never found my original Lime GBC. But at least I found
my special edition one.

>>32583255
I don't know why, but there's something aesthetically pleasing about the old boxes.
>>
I have my older brother's original Yellow and my og GBA and Crystal. Unfortunately my bro smashed the screen on his Pikachu ver. Color and threw it out when we were kids, but I bought a replacement years ago.
>>
>>32582606
Yea looks like pic related. It's missing the battery cap and no sound comes from the speaker so you have to wear headphones but it's still working,

Old GBC and Y became a hand me down to my cousin - she ended up pawning it.

I still have my old RB and GSC.
>>
>>32582762
dude... they die no matter what. They power the clock so it's always on. It's why they died, the clock drains all the juice. Just replace the battery, it's wicked easy.
>>
>>32582606
No, back when I was in elementary school it broke when people were pelting me with rocks
>>
>>32590286
Did you pelt them with machine-gun bullets?
>>
>>32590293
Nah. I stole their Spiderman web spinner things and buried them in the yard, then planted hand-drawn porn of the teacher's son in their desks.

I still own a working yellow Pokemon GBC w/Red and perhaps Blue. I only know I have Red because I'm looking at it right now. I did use to own Silver and Gold, but I lose shit every time I move, which is A LOT, so yeah.

Looks like old tape/casette cases. Fairly common to use them for GameBoy games as cases in the retro community.
Some even add little foam inserts.

I had all of them. The novelty of watching pokemon on the go was great even though it ran at like 8 fps and the sound and video quality was godawful.
>>
>>32582762
Batteries drain then corrode over time. If you don't get a tool and remove or replace the battery, eventually it will destroy the board in the case.
>>
I have my Red, Yellow, Gold

However my Blue, Silver, and Crystal were lost in a fire.

Yes! I have that Chikorita one still sealed in a bin in my closet. I wonder why I never played with it?
>>
>>32594409
i'd watch mine when I was alone at work. Back then, I was working a shitty retail job in college and morning/afternoon shifts I was alone and no one ever came in. It was actually pretty sweet, if not incredibly boring. Having some pokemon to watch really helped.
>>
>>32582606
I do actually it's functional but I lost the battery door thingy. Now my gba is no where to be found :(
>>
>>32582606
I have that Green GBC, as well as a clear transparent GBC and an original GB.
Also Pokemon Yellow, Red, Blue (x2), Gold and Crystal.
>>
>>32582606
I had one of those "colourful" Play It loud GB, but my sister broke it.
Still have a yellow Pokemon GBC and a transparent purple GBC both in working condition.

>>
>>32582606

No, because I started Pokemon with Crystal and on a GBA... which I still have. Need to replace the battery in Crystal though, it's been dead for years.
>>
>>32582606
Yes.

Gameboy works fine. Red and Silver don't because I was too much of a lazy ass to change batteries. Shame about Red, it was 151/151, everything except Mew legit and now I have no way to trade for all those.
