Fighting Friday is a go
The OG Rape Ape is by far my favorite Fighting type. Hella customizable with tons of offensive options and mixed attacking stats, access to both SD and NP, plus good speed to back it up. You can even run it as fast support with Wisp + Slack Off, but it wastes its offensive potential and can only wall specific threats. Savior of Fire back in Gen 4, power creeped but underrated nowadays.

Did you people like the Fighting type from the begining, or did the preference develope over time?
For me it was some years ago, not sure why to be honest.

At least post nice fanart dude
Hariyama has won worlds VGC, everybody else can suck his dick
Breloom has higher attack than Arceus. It literally punches harder than God. and it's just some random mushroom kangaroo thing with stretchy arms. Coem to think of it, mega Mewtwo X has stretchy arms too. Do stretchy arms really add divine-level striking power?
Who is the best fighting trainer and why is it Unova Battle girl?
>>32565500
Hard to tell. Been a Machamp fan since Gen 1, but never been interested with other fighting types as a whole until Gen 4. Gen 5 brought in the golden age, which heightened my interest for the type.
Anyone else think it would be cool if there were more fighting types that didn't have arms? Like, not just sword-deers although I love the sword-deers, but like, a kickboxer that's so kick-based it stopped growing arms or something like that?
>>32565917
>unova is supposed to be america

Gen 5 was a trainwreck.
Did you know that Mega Mewtwo X has elastic limbs?

I like Emboar best out of the Fire/Fighting types. All 3 lines are pretty rad though.

Too bad we may never get a non-starter Fire/Fighting mon because three starters in a row left people exhausted.

There isn't much room for another anyway, in fact, I'm sick of part-fighting type starters in general.

Should fighting types and phsychic types be mutually weak to each other? The later because they are all brain and no muscle so they can't take a punch or something like that.
>>32567432
No, but fairies need to lose either offensive or defensive advantage over fighting types
I loved the Keldeo movie, and wished there was a full animated series about him and the Swords of Justice. The Three Musketeers of nature sounds like a great concept.
Actually, the movie kind of felt like it was an adaptation of a series or manga that doesn't exist, some kind of grand finale, that crossovers with the Pokemon anime while at it. No other Pokemon movie made me feel like this because no other Pokemon movie puts so little focus on Ash and friends, they reallly are secondary characters here.
Point is I'm glad I felt like this for a movie about the first Fighting type legendaries. It's become my favorite.
>>32567441
No because it's the same concept: is martial arts vs magic. Magic wins on all the sides.
>>32567239
I do agree it would be cool to have another Machamp/Conkeldurr in a future generation!
>>32567639
>I loved the Keldeo movie
Stopped reading here.
How the fuck you liked such an awful movie?
>>32567441
Why? Fighting is still an amazing type that most Pokemon run if they have access to it. If Fairies need to be weakened it should be done through shit tier types like Grass or Ice.
>>32568600
I can't believe I found another fan of both pokemon that would like to see a third incarnation. 10/10 would hang out with
>>32568628
He's an Unovabortion. The only way one could like shitty concepts like the gen 5 legends is if they were what you grew up with.
>>32568678
>Why? Fighting is still an amazing type that most Pokemon run if they have access to it
so why are the only OU fighting types the two ultrabeasts before Pheromosa's ban, and currently replaced by a mega that's part Psychic? Where are the pure fighting types that used to have decent presence in the meta?
>>32567175
>>32567239
>>32568600
Alright lads, design the fighter you want for gen 8
aesthetics, stats, build, etc
Alright this is old but just to get things started
>Type
Fighting
>Role
A defensive mon that relies on utility/support moves to bring some variety in monofighting type teams instead of the usual slow bulky tank or speedy mixed sweeper roles.
>Concept
mixture of Kabuki theatrics (like how Meloetta-P uses performance art as a fighting specialty), oni and warrior
>Abilities
Guts, Intimidate, Provoke (HA)
Guts appears to be standard for bruiser fighting types, Intimidate due to Kabuki mask/make up, Provoke is auto-taunt ability, also due to Kabuki mask
>stat spread
HP: 105
Atk: 120
Def: 100
Sp. Atk: 45
Sp. Def: 100
Spe: 35
BST: 505
the slow speed references the slow (start) of Kabuki theatre, and so it could be of use with Trick Room, and to balance out its good bulk and decent attack
>moves
nothing unique but definitely has Sucker Punch to make use of the Auto-taunt ability and to avoid overlap with priority of other fighting types (Bullet/Mach punch), Close Combat (you sacrifice the defensive aspect if you go full-offense), Trick Room (again to reference the theatrical aspect of the pokemon), Healing Pulse, Helping Hand, Follow Me, Me First, Fake Out
Guts can make it a decent offensive threat as a curveball
There. A third Machamp/second Conkeldurr without taking away the exact same niche. Think an improved Hariyama mixed with Hitmontop with better BST--aka the four pure fighting types who were relevant in the VGCs of years past
How about some comfy in this dead thread

About psychic types being autistic, fairy types being faggots, dark types being edgelords, and getting triggered when reading that fighting types are not that different from normal types.
What's the best partner for Medicham a la Machamp/Conkeldur?
I think the biggest contenders are Gallade (because typing), Scrafty (because pants), Lucario (because aura sensing) and Mienshao (because dancing moves).
What's this group's opinion on a (vintage) boxing-styled Betta pokemon?
I'm working on a dex for a greco-roman region. As astrology is well tied to the area, we're attempting to incorporate all 12 signs as major signs (3 starters, 2 pseudos, 4 lesser legendaries and 3 "major one-stages" a la Kangaskhan). And the best we've established for Pisces is... well Piscecuffs.
>>32574331
Gallade or somebody was arguing for Hariyama before but that was a reach
Keeping the fighting spirit alive
Fighting type threads are as dead as the type in today's meta
What could have been
There was a time I only played the tcg and so much, that when I went back to the games it was a weird transicion where a lot of pokemon I had come to see as "fighting" were actually ground ord rock, and actual fighting mons were sadly not effective against electric.
Should Machamp and Conkeldur get Mega Evolutions? Or are they strong enough as they are?
Hard mode: no secondary type.
>>32577778
They are still decent and among the strongest (pure) fighting types but they definitely got left behind by the meta.
Introduction of Fairies, faster and stronger Flying types, bulkier amd/or stronger Fighting types with their own new toys and techniques, not to mention Machamp is indirectly nerfed due to confusion nerf
Machamp needs his BST retweaked and Steadfast needs to be replaced with something like Stamina or Defiant to open up new niches. Conkeldurr is still decent but only just.
If I can adjust their BSTs as wishful thinking, I'd change their total from 505 to at least 525
Machamp gets +20 to Attack for 150 base, his Special Attack gets reduced from 65 to 35 and the 30 points are redistributed to HP (+15), Defense (+10) and Special Defense (+5)
Conkeldurr will have his Defense boosted by 20 points.
This way, Machamp becomes geared offensively with well rounded bulk while Conkeldurr becomes an even better physical tank while keeping his recovery advantage and STAB priority
I chose not to give them megas because unless the megas are incredibly great, they would face stiff competition with pre-existing fighting type megas (nevermind that there are excellent megas of other types too)
But since BST fix is kinda delusional, throwing in Dynamic Punch base power boost from 100 to 120 and giving the guy a physical quiver dance would already do small wonders.
I'd keep Drain Punch limited to whoever has them now. I don't want Bewear entrenching on Conkeldurr's niche.
No offense to fans of other fighting types, I just think these two are among the best representatives of the type's brute strength AND mastery of technique, not to mention their aesthetics are what sets the type apart from other types even if they usually get hated for it.
>>32578001
>best representatives of the type's brute strength AND mastery of technique
>Conkeldurr
ehhhh
>>32578170
I respect your doubt on this one. I can point out some supporting evidence but you'd probably consider them reaching
>>32577778
>Should Machamp and Conkeldurr get Mega Evolutions? Or are they strong enough as they are?
Alakazam and Gengar are good enough as they are and they got megas. So were Gallade and Lucario. Even moreso the pseudos.
>>32578170
>Conkeldurr dex entries
Rather than rely on force, they master moves that utilize the centrifugal force of spinning concrete.
It is thought that Conkeldurr taught humans how to make concrete more than 2,000 years ago.
>Most common offensive moves
Drain Punch - a combination of offense and defense/recovery instead of straight up high-BP moves like Focus Punch or Super Power. Can't even learn Close Combat iirc.
Mach Punch - priority
When in doubles:
It's not as obvious as many other fighting types, but using Conkeldurr does rely on technique
most fighting types are either tanks or sweepers, closest thing we have to a support-based fighter is Breloom. What would you want a support-based Fighting type to be like? I've heard people throw around ideas like Terracotta warriors with stuff like Spikes and Baton Pass before. I think a Psychic/Fighting that can put up screens might be cool too, instead of the same old Gallade/Medicham/Mewtwo X style wallbreaker. Hell, Fighting/Ice with Snow Warning and Aurora Veil would be cool as fuck.
>>32578611
>closest thing we have to a support-based fighter is Breloom
isn't it more Hariyama/Hitmontop? I mean there's a reason those two are popular for doubles. Hell, even the likes of Machamp and Conkeldurr run Wide or Quick Guards in doubles for support
>What would you want a support-based Fighting type to be like?
Like this >>32569331
An entirely different niche, with defensive, utility and clerical elements. Would be a great asset for fighting monotypes.
>>32578611
>>32578649
alternatively, a combination of a round girl and a referee whose playstyle is to alter the game mechanics/field with moves like Trick Room, Magic Room, Reversal, a Red Card-like ability/move, etc.
Would also be nice to have another feminine design
