Of course it would. At least in Pokemon Battles.
War would totally be fought with Pokemon, though. And now that I think about it, criminals using Abra and terrorists using Electrode would be a thing. In fact, I could easily see several Pokemon species just being illegal to own outside of government sanctioned usage.

The real world would suck all the fun out of Pokemon, fuck.

Pretty much any fully evolved mon would be. Even Butterfree and Venomoth, they can release powders that can result in paralysis, illness, and even coma in some cases.

Any time you apply real world logic to Pokemon it ends with "everything dies". Pokemon can only logically exists in a world where death isn't as big a player, most people are nice and bad guys plans don't involve seriously hurting anyone.

I'm doubtful, most pokes seem to enjoy battling as they do it to get stronger. I'd say the injuries sustained from battling is comparable to feeling sore after going to the gym etc in humans.

Our world in the state it is currently is too fucked up to allow Pokemon to be what Pokemon currently is. Humans in our world are just too evil.
However, if we had Pokemon before the world was this crowded and full of hate, we might've been able to be peaceful.
Pokemon are intelligent enough to stop themselves from being abused. It would be much harder to kill and abuse Pokemon for profit than animals today.
But then again, there is plenty of war and fighting mentioned in Pokemon but they somehow got to a more peaceful era. Whether humans in our universe would've been able to do the same thing is too hard to tell.
