I've had a few wipes. I class them as failures. Some people like to grind up their box replacements and claw back a victory, but for me, I kind of feel like that gives me no failure condition.

As for my run in White 2, I've just finished getting everyone to level 48 for Drayden's Gym.

Got an Impish Gligar, which is awesome. It has Sand Veil rather than Hyper Cutter, but that makes little difference. It's really a shame the Razor Claw isn't obtainable until you get Watefall (because fuck doing the PWT or Subway) so hopefully the Eviolite will have to do.

Swoobat is finding less and less things to do, but honestly, while I have a few really good back ups now, I don't really have anything that would fit the team or be less redundant. I mean I have an Elgyem, but I don't see it being all that effective. I've also got a Jolly Altaria, but Dragon Claw and Earthquake are postgame so I'd be relying on shit like Aerial Ace/Fly/Bulldoze and I don't feel like doing that.

Drayden could be interesting - Gligar might do some work, Samurott has the ever unreliable Blizzard, and Scrafty will probably be most useful. We shall see later.

Started a Randomized Nuzlocke Run this week, starting with Yellow then going into Crystal.

I just did last night. Was running a 3 player Nuz with two friends on Pokemon Revolution Online and got fucked up by Brock's team since I started with Charmander. Sucks, and if I want to keep playing I'll have to make a new account and try to catch up.

Queen Lizz got trolled against Drayden's Druddigon with Ice Punch - first hit did half, second left it with the tiniest slither of HP. I doubt I would have survived Revenge with the HP I had left, but it crit anyway. Then I just sent out Lillian, Quiver Danced while he healed, and murdered everything. Now training Slicer the Pawniard. Sassy and Inner Focus isn't great, but I do want a Steel type actually.

Update: grinded to lv 10 but got wiped by JR. TRAINER's. Paulie the Poliwag fought well against his Paras, but his Psyduck resisted his Bubbles and won. Zoey the Zubat succumbed fast but Wendel the Kakuna fought valiantly, even poisoning Psyduck but couldn't win.

Think I'll finally try see what the fuss is about with Platinum, coincidentally my favorite.

Hypno was basically MVP, once Calm Mind came around he could set-up without the need for coddling. Nidoqueen carried early-game especially around the powerspike in trainers around Vermillion. Starmie was gotten late for a cornerstone water-type but held it's own right until rival's exeggutor knocked it out.

Chuck had NOTHING against Audio, but I encountered some MAJOR bullshit against Jasmine. Went in Grumbles killed her first Magnemite easily, But had low rolls with Magnitudes against her Steelix. She Dropped down to 1 HP, and Steelix was low too. I healed he to full, expecting her to take two more (like she had been) to get in that lat Mag. NOPE FUCKING CRIT and she went from full to 0. It was a nightmare after that. If only I hadn't lost My Quagsire...

Kubrick handled her last Magnemite after it nearly killed my starter, killed Barbara, and even confusion didn't stop it from killing Audio. I don't even know what to rebuild my team with. I had been doing so well, this was a HUGE hit to my team that I've been working with for so long.

Quite a lot, actually. Since I'd only lost one pokemon before, I have multiple options in the PC. I'd just have to grind a lot, and adjust to having only half of my main team. I'm thinking of Taking out a Machop, Ekans, and maybe trying to find another Water-type.

If you need another water-type, you could try for the Red Gyarados if you haven't already. Machop is a pretty solid pick. Best of luck.

We beat Lenora, who destroyed me on my first VW nuzlocke IIRC.

Double Intimidate vs. Contrary really helped Servine pretty much 2HKO her entire team. I was really worried about a potential Sap Sipper Bouffalant but luckily Servine leveled up and learned Zen Headbutt at the perfect time and lived a Helping-Hand boosted 140 BP Retaliate which is just insane to me. There was a tough 50/50 where Bouffalant could've KO'd Geodude (Revenge) or Servine (Aerial Ace) and I decided Servine was more important and healed it up. Luckily I called that one right and narrowly beat her without any casualties.

Hoping for a good catch in (inner) Pinwheel Forest. Might do a team template update at some point.

Found a wild Beldum in Moon and it managed to struggle itself to death while paralized before getting into a fucking pokeball. Fuck this cunt of a pokemon.

XY is more challenging for sure. Not brutal, but you'll notice the coverage moves on trainers more. ORAS is still piss easy without it. I imagine Sun and Moon are horrible. There's basically nowhere to grind, and you need to. I don't have an issue with using it sparingly in Sun and Moon. Though the level spikes towards the lategame are so high you basically need it unless you want to grind on wilds forever.

After mocking me with Psyduck, the game has proved to be much easier than last time.

Lisa the Metapod (yes, I got the same starter again) is stronger than her mother, Marge the Caterpie, and proved that by winning easily the fight against Rival's Bellsprout.

We're now grinding to 8 to battle Rival again and then will go through Viridian Forest into Pewter.

So, the run has ended. I beat the Elite Four and Iris without losing any of my six.

Lots of Swords Dance and Quiver Dance sweeps in the late game, and lots of gem abuse. Such as doing a damage calc and figuring Volcarona's Signal Beam would OHKO Iris's Hydreigon with the Bug Gem. Worked out really well.

Swoobat did nothing, but had Unaware so if Iris's Haxorus killed my Gliscor, which it nearly did, it could at least be not outsped in order to revenge. Awesome team overall, but Gliscor really held it together. Ground/Flying is ridiculously good.

if you are interested in doing these, you only need pkhex to underlevel your mons to lvl 1, and a hacked 3ds for the gen 6 and 7 games

The beginning is the toughest part, but you can avoid most of the "wipe prone" battles as most of them are optional. After that, it's fairly easy . The level curve is stupidly unbalanced as the game makes a beeline for the end after Korrina, so you have to set aside time to grind, even with the lucky egg.

probably easier than RS due to the much better movepools, TM usage, and manual ev training at your disposal. You also have the mirage islands for potential catches after you slap up the box legend. Level curve is just like RSE's so you won't be too underleveled if you fight all the trainers.

Can be tough if you go in unprepared (or plain stink at japanese bugfighting simulators) due to some early and mid game surprises but the totems can be a nuisance or trivial depending on your catches and how long you can keep them alive and have an overall balanced team comp. I had a beautiful run on Platinum where I not only got QT Balloon, but QT Hand Monkey as well.

i juat managed it to work on most gym battles, playing it is impossible
basically, i had to make sure none of my pokemon leveled up, or else the game freezes, so i had to go on bulbapedia and calc the exp beforehand, so i wouldnt level up somebody, that is why viola, ramos and the e4 had to be recorded in shittier quality, because no matter what i did, my mons would level up and freeze the game
the game also freezes when you get a badge

Completed the Nuzlocke for Sun (set, no healing items). Olivia gave us a little bit of a scare, but otherwise smooth sailing. Almost took shiny Whimsicott (Marigold) all the way, but lost it, Gyarados, and Skarmory to Kukui. Got out of a possible wipe against Incineroar thanks to Double Team Baton Pass Oricorio, then Calm Mind with Raichu. Time for Platinum.

Brock had a Horsea and a Shellder. Celeste took care of the former spamming Wrap but had to cycle through the team to weaken the latter so Lisa the Butterfree could Confusion it down.

On to Mt. Moon. Will have 4 new mons when I get to Cerulean: routes 3, 4, Mt. Moon and the Magikarp seller - I won't count gift/bought mons as part of the area, since that's why I'm playing Yellow not RB).

I had Red as a kid but liked LG/Blue's exclusives so I usually go with that one. If you're indifferent coin flip is good yeah.

Starmie is only in LG and S tier for Nuzlocking that game though, as well as Slowbro. Nidoran(m) is more common after Pewter City in FR, Nidoran(f) is in LG.

Route 3: Caught Mickey the Pikachu
Mt. Moon entrance: Bought Trevor the Tentacool from the salesman (guess he was out of fish)
Mt. Moon: Caught Angelina the Pidgey (and found a Thunderstone!).
Route 4: After many Rattata and Ekans, finally found and caught Poseidon the Goldeen.

Something worth mentioning, Team Rocket had a Shellder, a Charmander and a Dragonair. That's one hell of a team if they keep it til the end.

Question: What level should I grind to before Route 24 and Misty? I believe the Rival battle is about level 18, am I correct?

i lost to gardenia the last time i played this so i might be desperate enough to evolve staravia. most of my team is useless against her so it's pretty much just staravia + ariados. nosepass might also do stuff once it evolves.

After fire type Roark, Water type Gardenia and Ice type Fantina, this one seems to be rock type. That basically means Regirocks that I need to poison+evasion stall or else they would wipe me everywhere.
And Dry Skin Magcargos are fucking annoying. Fortunately AI that thinks the poison hp loss every turn requires recover gives enough space for Acupressure shenanigans.

Maylene had Lileep, Rhydon and Shuckle. Luckily, enough space for Snips to setup. Cobble badge acquired, no idea what to do now.

Got an Illumise on my way to Pastoria, lost an Illumise on my way to Pastoria, because crits, got Dustox on the Great Marsh, made Anorith tear Barry a new one for his Luxio kiiling my Masquerain. His starter (Cloyster) aside, he had three fire types now. All basic stages. Easy.

Next comes the wrestler. A flying type. First fight: tuber with Starly. OHKO'd my Dustox with a critical Aerial ace. Ffs, I'll never get 6 mons in team at this rate. Luckily, this was the only incident on my way to Wake, although I got walled by Mantine pretty hard. Seems like Anorith is going to be mvp, although those head smashes taking over 3/4 of its hp as recoil are slightly unnerving.

Wake fight: Pidgeotto, taken down right away by Anorith, overleveled as fuck Gliscor that I had to poison/eva stall again AND A FUCKING SALAMENCE. I was close to ragequit when I saw it. I'm glad I didn't because it spamming Protect allowed Snips, the only one full HP at this point, to start the Acupressure rape train. Badge #5 acquired.

Doing an (almost) monotype poison run of Sun, just cleared Kiawe trial.

Spinarak died like a champ taking Crabrawler Z-move and Tentacool was my recent, stinging death to Salandit fucking dragonrage. I give my mons two lives because I don't have too many options, this team will carry me all the way into the elite 4 if I don't fuck up too much.

A trainer gave me an Arcanine (can't use him since he has no name yet. Caught Samuel the Sandshrew on Route 24 and Duke the Farfetch'd (!!!) on Route 25.

But there's only 20 of those, unless you want to keep constantly going back to restore the PP.
Also, good luck getting it to 15 with those stats. You'll be relying on Thunder Wave pretty much until it evolves, and even then, you'll probably be making good use of it.
I played a Platinum romhack where one of the starters was a Dratini, and it ends up kinda a slog for quite a while, even though the hack creator was nice enough to also give Dratini Water Pulse from the start. Not to mention you'll know exactly the rate that Slam misses well before it evolves. If you can get it to Dragonair, you'll probably be fine, but at that point, it'll likely be underperforming as compared to your other team members.
Personally, I'd be considering Tropius, since it'll have a bit of an advantage over the first gym, but also take at least neutral damage to most of the attacks there, so it wouldn't be terribly overpowered. But it's up to you. Dragonite can tear the game a new one if you can keep it alive to that point.

SM has way too many different routes, at least according to the way I interpret it (ie, if a new name pops up I get a new catch). That plus the game being easy other than a few curve balls here and there and yeah, you kind of end up with a ton of boxed Pokemon.

Went through Mt. Iron, trained to level 40 and up and ready for Byron, who happens to be ground type trainer.

Good news is by catching a Nincada before Canalave and a Kakuna in Iron I managed to break the curse of "as soon as I get #6, something in the team dies". Especially with Nincada giving me two for the price of one.

I wonder how long a Shedinja can survive in a nuzlocke, but so far so good.

Other news: Snips evolved, changing Tinted Lens to Sturdy. In Gen IV direct downgrade. Ozzy evolved as well, swapping Filter for Hustle. As much as I don't like this one because legendary rock type accuracy, the combo of Hustle, Life Orb and a random Head Smash TM is fucking scary as long as recoil damage doesn't literally OHKOs it since Anorith was getting close to that at times.

Bumping the general with a new update, just destroyed Wattson, his ace was a double screen Ledian (annoying as fuck), and I was shocked when he sent out a second Ledian. Had only one casualty between Dewford and Mauville and my team isn't that bad. I also caught a Heracross near Mauville, but my self-imposed rules don't let me make changes to my team unless someone dies, not that I want my buddies to die, but Heracross is top bro.

Fuck Galactic. Saturn had a rather strong team of dark types that couldn't do shit to me anyway because the first one was Absol that kept boosting itself with Swords Dance and Double Team, which allowed my Snips to reach the final form no problem and sweep. Mars was a pain in the ass though. She kept her fire type, and as much as Ponyta and Torchic were onehits, the first one had Snow Warning and the chip damage did its thing. The last one, Entei (what's up with her and fucking legendaries anyway) was a monster and with both my fire-neutral mons crippled I had to sacrifice Shedinja for Heracross to revenge kill and he could barely do so anyway, left under 10 hp after Entei's flamethrower and another round of Hail. Rest in peace, sweet prince.

Candice's gym was bug type. Easy. Especially with suicide bombing Armaldo and Yanmega compatible with Heat Wave TM. Although the gym type gave me 'nam flashbacks a few times.

Candice had Parasect, Beedrill, Burmy and Metapod in that order. To make things funnier, I lead with Parasect as well. Hers turned to be faster and spored me first, so after a short RNG fest I went for Yanmega and cheesed my way through with Heat Wave. Almost as piss easy as Byron.

Anyone wantto do a group Nuzlocke? Like we randomize the same Roms and we just play together? We could do Skype or Discord or just stick with /vp/ posts.
