Ultra Beasts are cool as fuck. Yeah they're not really Pokemon, but thats what makes them intruiging. Imagine: An Ultra Beast World where these things are fucking everywhere, and are use by Ultra Beast trainers that fight each other. Some of these trainers try to reach the top; Champion of the Ultra Beast League.

But then a Pokemon comes out of a Pokemon Wormhole and into the Ultra Beast world.

Would play that game. Too bad I dropped Sun after Mallow's Trial. Too much fucking interuptions and was slow as fuck

It was worth it for me early on because I was able to breed a horde of Oranguru (before bank destroyed the GTS) and trade for a full box of UBs before the third island. Sun has this one and it's great, although I played Moon and liked them just as much.

They're relatively popular, but a few people apparently "quit" pokemon entirely because they thought the designs were too complex for Pokemon, although that is the point as they are extradimensional aliens. I see "digimon" cited as a common concern although UBs share little in terms of style and design elements with most prominent digimon.
I personally love them, some of the most creative designs in years.

Lesser said ones are their effect on the competitive meta and the lack of involvement by non-Nihilego UBs.

People have been pulling the digimon thing since Gen 3 with Blaziken.

At some point you have to start tuning them out, it's been 10 whole years.

Of course, but it reached levels almost on par with spam with the UBs. Blaziken was a prime target of criticism but as of late it has died out to near nil.

The UBs are not huge problems in competitive.
In VGC only Celesteela and Kartana are big threats
In OU only Celesteela and to a much smaller extent Nihilego are good.
