Here's a rough level curve for each game based on the levels of Gym Leaders and such. Discuss.
>>32531629
You should've included RBY, GSC, RSE and DP in there too. The levels of those differ quite a lot
>>32531629
What the fuck happened in FRLG?
>>32531629
>We have +8 colors in this universe
>Repeat a slightly different shade of blue anyway
>>32531629
Now do the number of Pokemon per match
>>32531648
Have that, but I though including all of them looked rather cluttered.
I also made ones comparing each region's games if anyone wants to see.
>>32531656
Koga and Sabrina's Pokemon have the same levels, so there's a huge increase between Erika and Koga.
There's also a small dip between because I decided to use the Giovanni Silph fight as the equivalent to the "villain" point (instead of skipping it entirely like I did BW).
>>32531679
Yeah it's a bit of a mess but it's still interesting to see changes made between games. Thanks tho!
>>32531679
>that "gym 8 -> e4 -> champion" curve in DP
Gonna go ahead and post the other version comparison charts.
Fucked around and included B2W2's Challenge mode too.
Thanks for this OP
I'm a big stats nerd

Man even the level curve in BW is a straight line
For fun, here you can see the difference between the Champion and whoever the highest level post-game opponent is.
Here we can also see part of why level grinding is so slow in Sun/Moon. It has the lowest level trainers of any recent game.
In fact, it's the first game since Ruby/Sapphire where the highest level opponent is technically a wild legendary (Necrozma Lv75) instead of a trainer's Pokemon.
>>32531995
and at that point, we see HGSS going from lowest level game (champion) to highest level game (post game toughest trainer) rather quickly
>>32532287
Related, I have yet another chart which shows how much better HGSS handled the post-game than the original.
>>32531973
delet this about my favorite region
>>32531995
I would like to mention that the move re-learner was only just before the elite four which really changes how good certain pokemon are
Technically regarding BW, you don't enter officially into the Hall of Fame til the second time you challenge them. Correct?
>>32534164
Yeah, the first time you get cucked out of a champion fight by N and Team Plasma
>>32531629
Could you post Kalos?
>>32535642
Sure, though it's not particularly interesting with nothing else to compare it to.
Here's Alola if you want to see it with every Totem and Lusamine fight mapped out.
Your charts are really interesting, anon.
Thanks for posting them!
>>32531629
Proof that levels don't really matter at the end of the day towards game difficulty
>>32531629
All in all the most challenging game for me was SM. Fuck lurantis and her friend castform.
>>32534063
>Golisopod waiting until the 40's for Water STAB
>Marowak-A not learning it's Signature Move until endgame
>Odds are that your Vikavolt would past Bug Buzz
This is the level curve for Nova Sun and Umbra Moon, the ROM hacks I made for Sun and Moon that are balanced around the EXP share.
>>32537713
who's the scrub before Hau 4?
>>32537737
FEAR strats.
>>32531629
>Literally no one has mention XY in this entire thread
How
>>32537713
Very interesting.
>>32537847
Because Kalos' level curve is busted. It's not balanced with the EXP or even without the EXP share. I did a playthrough of each. With the EXP share, I had to outright avoid some routes and I would constantly switch out pokemon, and I still managed to reach Diantha's levels. Without the EXP share, I barely reached level 50 by the time I got to the E4, and this was with fighting every trainer I came across.
>>32537934
Also, Kalos' level curve doesn't even matter because of how easy the actual Trainers are. Nobody but Diantha even has over four Pokémon. Six Lv60s are going to win against four Lv65s, especially since you have EVs and they don't.
>>32534164
At least it had a Hall of Fame.
They don't have gym leaders, but how do Colosseum and GoD compare?
>>32538351
>God
XD
>>32531862
>E4 at level 50
>half of the two-stage pokemon don't evolve until after level 50
Unova was suffering.
>>32531629
that's kinda odd... I never remembered having any real trouble in XY, the champion was piss easy thanks to super training making it ezpz to EV your pokemon perfectly. By that point I already had a gengar I traded to and back with a friend, and some other favorite mons. On the other hand the E4 of SM I actually gave me some trouble, mostly because - fighting, flying, rock and ghost gives them stellar coverage. 0 no effect, 0 not very, 238 normal, 670 super effective.
>>32535913
>Kommo-o
No wonder I remember him being so easy. The cool guy deserved much better, considering how memorable and landmark the early Totem fights were.
>>32537946
Sun and Moon was a mixed bag in this regard. None of the generic trainers have more than 2 pokemon each, making them all extreme pushovers and completely unmemorable, but major opponents were all stacked with full teams and even EVs.
All Gamefreak needs to do is put the little bit of effort they used to put into generic trainers that they would in the earlier games and the trainer fights would have been all-around fantastic. I probably remember more of the full teams of some random trainers in Emerald, than I do any of the pokemon from any of the trainers in SM.
>>32538570
That's basically what the romhack mentioned in
>>32537713
is.
>>32538517
XY's level curve hardly mattered because they didn't properly balance for Megas or the Experience Share. The only trouble I ever had in Kalos was against random early game Black Belts and Battle Girls because they had those fully evolved basics with good enough stats for endgame and great (for early game) coverage.
>>32538594
>didn't properly balance for Megas
I'll never forgive them for not even managing to give Gym Leaders and Elite Four Mega Evolutions.
They were far too sparsely distributed amongst the NPCs.
>>32538594
yeah see I didn't have trouble with those guys, I'm a ghost type lover.
IMMUNITY.
>>32538650
>Grant never rocked a Mega Aerodactyl
>not even in the Chateau
That's another thing SM did right, there were a number of random trainers with Z-moves out there at least in addition to all the important NPCs.
>>32538661
See, I'm talking about the ones like the Battle Girl in Reflection Cave with her Hawlucha. I know for a fact that it was packing either Aerial Ace or Wing Attack plus Rock Tomb, and only on the runs I did without a Honedge to trivialize the entire game even further.
