Because having a good design = having shitty stats this gen, at least its' counterpart is pretty good, would have been even worse if both were trash because both have a really good design

It's been over a decade since I had trouble fighting a boss (legend, gym leader, e4, whatever you consider a boss in the pkmn games) in Pokemon.

They gave it Contrary, but with only Leaf Storm to abuse it with an no other special moves beyond hidden power, it's outclassed by SERVINE, not even Serperior (well it's still outclassed by it, but the point is that its outclassed by a NFE) They could have given it Close Combat at the very least or an exclusive move that sharply lowers speed when used.
