Needs support. There needs to both be stage 1/2 E/GX cards to pair with it and a way to get them into your discard. Also needs some acceleration since two attachments to a set-up card is slow.

The first attack is completely negated if you retreat the active and the ability removal is made only to slow down all set up pokémon, so limiting it to the active (that should retreat) would be kind of pointless.
The GX attack is strong, but since no similar effect exists in the game I didn't know how to cost it. Having the pokémon discards all the energies on it is necessary to at least give an appearence of fairness, but even at PFCC I think it would be fine.
What's the worst you can do with it?
Discard your own energies? Lysandre out their weakest pokémon or a Shaymin? You have to consider that Nihilengo has zero energies now so you need an appropiate setup to use it at its fullest.

I'm not the best at making decks, help me round out this one out, /vp/.
Trying to make a Toxapex deck work but it still feels clunky. What's a good way to deny people retreat?
Aqua's Hideout for extra retreat cost. Field Blower for Float Stone removal.
Sticking to Standard since I don't know anything about Expanded.

Yeah, let's talk about Toxapex deck and make him relevant.
First, he needs an energy acceleration, because of his second and GX attacks. With three of Toxapex and 3 energies per each one you will need 12 energies in the deck and 4 Max Elixirs instead of hammers. Two of elixirs with 9 energies will probably miss the target in the deck pile.
Notice, that you run trash Garb too. It's maybe wrong, because the deck doesn't mill items much, only pokemon tools. Let this to TrashGarb only deck. BKT Garb is more important.
Cut one Shaymeme and two Sycamores at least.
Cover the P weakness of Toxapex with policy, because you will meet P decks very often and it would mean autoloss.
There is an option to use FLF Dragalge and Wallys for the first turn. Aqua bases can be replaced with Virbank City gym and/or Hypnotoxic lasers. Dield Blowers will blow Float Stones for opponent's mons, so it's good.
And sort of an aesthetic advice you can ignore, of course. Fucking cut the blinging items cards out and change water Mareanies with psychic ones.
If I missed something or said wrong, correct me. The Toxapex is clunky and needs to be tested and changed multiple times before the deck list will be consistent

Toxapex is a bit slow for Standart, I suppose. Even more with Garb in meta. Toxapex certainly loses for AZ, Super Scoop Up, talent switching pokemons, Switch and future Acerola massive decks. If there is few ways to counter opponents retreats, the deck isn't good enough for Standart.Let's wait for more trainers etc.

Why was the concept of the Lost Zone abbandoned?
The exile zone is a great way to weaken consistency based strategies without nerfing them too much, for example being able to remove cards from the discard pile to stop all the recursion.

I wish tournaments were fluid in terms of matchmaking. Like if you finish your match quickly you might get pitted against a person in another tournament who finished recently, whether it was quickly or slowly for them. Waiting 20 minutes after finishing the first round kills any incentive I have to play in them. If I wasn't a blingfag I wouldn't even bother. I also whiffed on pulling Lele so I need to grind for that shit.

Finals in a 24 ticket tournament, my opponent has the exact same turbo darkrai deck as me, and gets everything for the perfect setup, hoopas, shaymins, exp shares, hits 3 max elixirs, fighting fury belts, sycamores and VS seeked lysandres to kill any struggle i make to get going,. I brick and go the first 5 turns without even getting a draw supporter.

The tournaments I go have both VGC and the TCG at the same time, the TCG tends to have the loser nerd old looking ones and annoying geeks, while VGC tends to have normalfag looking ones and they're usually kinda pretty, though they're still weird personality-wise like one time one almost threw a fit and resigned because here Eevee memeteam lost against a meta one, and she also went to London a week before just for a big tournament. They also feel the gracious need to bring their dudebro boyfriend who doesn't even know about pokémon every single time for whatever reason.

With Elixer and the introduction of Aqua Patch you can have a Lapras set up on turn 1 while your opponent is lacking behind.

If you play with speed and utilize items you lose out to Garb though.

I wasn't making a value judgement about whether the cost of a deck correlates to its skill. However the fact that it is cheap (relatively speaking, good builds will need multiple Lele and potentially Shaymin) means you'll see more of it at events.
