No, Greninja can't. A single Greninja can. So the question is why can only that one Greninja go undergo bond phenomenon.

The answer is the anime. You can easily chalk this thing up as non-canon in the games, as it only appears in the non-canon demo, and transferring from there is the only way to obtain it.

I mean, let's be realistic. Ash-Greninja is Mega Greninja in all but name.

They could've just as easily said some bullshit like Ash can Mega Evolve Pokemon without Mega Stones because reasons. If they'd done that, Ash Greninja wouldn't have to be permabanned from every tournament, too, because it falls into the "event Pokemon" category that gets banned so nobody's feelings get hurt for missing out.

I guess in the Gen VI remake we are going to get Battle Bond starters
