Hi. I'm thinking of recreating a map of Kanto with new areas and stuff. I guess I'm using a custom-made tile set too, with 16x16 tiles.
How do you like Pallet Town so far? Are the outlines only around the buildings weird?
looks like mother

The house outlines look alright, but would probably look better if everything else also had outlines to match. The houses look like they have a nice "pop" to them, but the trees look flat in comparison.
Intriguing thread OP, love to see this type of stuff instead of the usual shitposting that is 95% of the board right now. It's a shame this thread won't get many replies.

Unironically kill yourself in real life.
>>32505423 is right, this looks like an intersting concept. Monitoring this thread

Your houses aren't making sense to me. The roof has shading, indicating form, but the bottom literally looks like a cardboard cutout for two reasons:
- All of the features are shown straight on, as if the viewer is standing directly in front of them. This isn't really a big deal for simple shapes like these houses at this perspective, but it's important to think about these objects in a 3D space and remember the angle that these objects are being seen at. Crude pic related.
Sorry for the fucked Red sprites, but they should get the idea across. In the FRLG sprite, Red's hat (his main defining feature, the thing to emphasize in the sprite is slightly larger than usual to indicate that you are seeing him from above. His legs are practically nonexistent for the same reason. These aren't in the Emerald sprite. (if you try putting Emerald OW sprites in a 2D platformer, they actually don't look out of place at all for this reason)
- Second is that it has no shading/form whatsoever. This could be fine, usually, but since it's so heavily used (in comparison) in the roof, it's quite jarring to have nothing on the house.
Taking into account both of these points, I made an edit. Hopefully, it demonstrates some of the points I'm trying to make.
I'm not going to comment on the ground, grass, or trees, because they look plain unfinished.
If you use the same rules as GBC games you're gold

I second this opinion, the houses are great but the trees are too flat.
