Anyone who thinks the next game will be on Switch is an ignorant fuck who doesn't know anything about game development. Do you think it's easy to port an entire game from one console to a radically different one? It'll take years to develop. Don't expect anything on Switch till 2019/2020.

Not to mention changing in middle of a Generation is just stupid. Generation 7 is new. They don't need to move just yet. They'll milk this Generation before moving on. If it's on Switch, they won't be able to use Generation 7's engine. They'll have to make a new one. That defeats the entire point of staying in Generation 7.

There's also marketing and sales to consider. 3DS will get more sales. That's a fact. It'll also get more people to continue playing it. Switch might be a handheld, 3DS is just a better handheld. Switch being stronger doesn't mean more people like it. Not to mention they fucking said it themselves that they aren't going to be making a game for Switch just yet.

We're on 3DS, like it or not.

How so? The sales and moving in between Generations being a stupid move have nothing to do with that. GF explicitly stating they want to see how Switch does before focusing on it is also unrelated to that. So that is 3 out of the 4 points I made that aren't affected by whether they were allowed to touch Switch or not.

As for the first part, the development time, it still isn't affected much. They were still working on Generation 7. Unlike with XY, ORAS and SM, where they were developed for the same system and used a roughly similar engine, Switch is a completely new thing. Simultaneous development would be a lot harder and resource heavier. Especially so for a small company like GF. Even if they had been working on something for Switch since 2015, contrary to what they themselves have said multiple times, the development time isn't going to be cut by much.
