Story is good, but it doesn't matter much in the long run.

Gameplay should be the priority. make sure everything's running smoothly with as little slowdown as possible, bring back triples and rotation battles, etc.

Then art/music. Story is bottom priority here. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good story, but they went overboard with SM. A million cutscenes you have to slog through isn't fun, and the story is a lot less engaging when the character you're playing as isn't the main character. So taking a step back and having something a little more simple sounds good to me.

You can be happy, Game Freak is fucking good in those aspects.
Also I think that the story in SM is good, but is difficult make a game where the story don't interrupt the gameplay.

Gameplay gameplay gameplay. However they neeeeed to get bwtter with their art style. Maybe take some anatomy classes and zoology courses.

I'd like them to focus on gameplay myself. Art and story they have well, just there's no more puzzles, battles are easier (it's not just cuz I'm older, when I go back, older gens can be tougher), catching pokemon ain't a challenge, etc
