Emerald is allright but I'll always love LeafGreen more. It was my first game and I still play my original cartridge to this day. I'll admit the endgame isn't as good as Emerald but I prefer the FRLG graphics.

Emerald is a great companion for FRLG. Breeding in Emerald is easier and better. Also there are items that are easier to get in Emerald. I love gen 3 and FRLG is at the top for me. FRLG has so many flaws but I can't help loving it.

Wish I had the balls to do that back in the day. On the plus side though my girlfriend bought a Gameboy Advance at a yard sale for $5 and it had Emerald in it. My brother got it for his birthday later on in May and he didn't play the Battle Frontier at all. Shit made me REEEEEE. But I got one a year or so later and destroyed that story. Tried cloning glitch and accidentally deleted my Blaziken kek so I caught all the good Pokemon and transferred them to my Fire Red and new gamed it. Then had all the fun all over again. Thankfully my fuckup happened after enough time where I enjoyed the story again.

I really love this gen. I think it's because I started on gen two so it's the dirst upgrade I experienced, plus it was during the best part of my childhood.

The graphics ans OW sprites of FR/LG are way more appealing to me. I used to grind my Pokemon on FRLG too, usually on the 7th island near the house where you can heal quickly, or in the rematchable elite 4.

Due to the lack of (high leveled) trainers and an elite 4 that doesn't get an upgrade, I couldn't enjoy grinding on RSE unfortunately. FRLG or Colosseum/XD was my grinding game.

Mechanics and story Emerald definitely wins. Love the battle frontier despite all the rage quit. I only have the gold medal of the Pyramid and Palace. Failed to get the others unfortunately.
Pyramid is nice with Choice Banded Slaking. Softboiled Blissey to heal up and another mon. That does well.
The first time you should Thief and search for items in the Pyramid.

FR rom hacks are good and comfy with the graphics too.

Are you fucking retarded? Like, I'm not even trying to make fun of you, I'm legitimately curious. Ever since I was a kid I've thought that Winona is the EASIEST Gym Leader in the entire series bar none (and Drake is the easiest Elite Four member). The game gives you a free Ice Beam after the fifth Gym and you most certainly have a Water-type that can learn it because you desperately need Surf to navigate half of the region. Winona and Drake both get 6-0'd by literally any non-Luvdisc Pokemon that knows Ice Beam. I feel like the only way to lose to them is if you misclick moves on purpose or flat out refuse to teach Ice Beam to anything because you want to add more challenge to your playthrough.

I think if Emerald had the physical/special split, and the movepools of the pokemons weren't so retarded, it would be the best pokemon game ever.

There's just something about it that makes it extremely COMFY and incredibly pleasant to play. Maybe it's just the nostalgia, but i love the pixel art and the music and the move animations.

12 years later, still my favorite game of all time

Yeah, not just Pokemon, of all time

It's no perfect by any means but it fixed the only real problem with RS (no postgame), and boy was Battle Frontier magnificent. I also liked the increased difficulty, Gym rematches and combining elements of Ruby and Sapphire plots. I mean, it made sense for Team Magma to be at the top of Mt. Chimney, and it also made sense for Team Aqua to be the ones trying to steal the submarine.

I still replay the game sometimes though I swear it's by far the most annoying one to Nuzlocke. Especially if you pick Treecko.

You had to go all the way through the water route between Petalburg and Slateport, find the abandoned ship, solve the little sidequest inside and find the Ice Beam TM behind a locked door. Most people probably didn't bother and just straight up continued their journey to the east of Mauville.

Though as one anon has said, you could also grab one in the Game Corner (F) in Mauville if you saved enough money.
