That's really a hold over from ye olde Japan, where if a woman isn't married by the time she's 20, she's seen as undesirable.

Consider this series' obsession with repeating the same thing over and over again, that's nothing. Compare this to Gen 5 or 6 characters, who go on about the same thing forever, and this is subtle as fuck.
