Not my first card, but absolutely my favorite even to this day. At a time when Sceptile's in-game sprite was dreadful it was nice to have depictions that brought out his good features.

i very much agree, the gym sets have the OG feel to it, except with more dyanmic poses (a lot of base set/jungle/fossile cards featured the default art that everyone knows and have seen a thousand times)

I'm probably in the minority on this one, but I fucking love Sugimori cards. The simple artwork plastered on some background relevant to their natural environment.

Admittedly it's pretty nostalgia fueled though. Back in first grade collecting Base set and what not, we didn't have easy access to official Sugi artwork. Even back then I could tell he was a great artist, and would always collect and try to draw those ones. Even still when they do them, I love it.

Kawayoo is fucking masterful. Insanely good fucking art. I would kill to see a time lapse video of him actually working on this shit. I don't know for certain, but I suspect that he does typical digital artwork steps out of order to get that oil painting affect. Its fucking fascinating.

i think thats the same artist who made the amazing poster with ho-oh/lugia/skarmory in the neo area, all three pokemons have their separate cards but the full picture looks just as good
