Gen 4 has always been "just okay" to me except HGSS which I don't like at all having started with Crystal and feeling HGSS completely butchered the original aesthetics and atmosphere for me. I have absolutely no idea how people can say DP are the worst while Platinum is the best, though. I can understand hating Sinnoh on the whole, and I can understand loving it, and Platinum is definitely better than DP, but I can't understand that bizzare leap in opinons.

Gen 3 made me lose interest in the series. Hoenn was a terrible, boring region. The characters were bland with only a few exceptions. Double Battles produced a few too many useless pair-mons. Shitty villain teams. Etc.

Gen 4 brought me back. It balanced new with old well. It may have been slower than some others but it was still enjoyable. Underground > Secret Bases. Good characters with a few exceptions. Platinum and HGSS are enough to make gen 4 more enjoyable than most, if not all, gens.

As everyone else has been saying, DP were actual shit. If Platinum hadn't come along and fixed some of their more major issues (namely the regional dex being fucking terrible and everything running at the speed of molasses) then the Sinnoh games would be the absolute worst in the series, even worse than XY.
