4kids changed Misty's flashback scenes. In the Japanese version it was more about Misty's captures and pokemon and her battles at the Whirl Cup. In the dub they changed it to all Ash/Misty scenes.

Watch the Japanese version of Misty's last episode, it's much different.

It's ironic how the Japanese version plays the "tears of cloudy weather" which was the typical first season sad music during Misty's departure, but 4kids changed it to a more uplifting tune. In the Japanese version it makes it seem like Misty is dying or leaving forever, the 4kids version makes things feel like Misty is having a brighter future.

Considering Misty appears again only 43 episodes into Hoenn, it's not even that long a gap between when she leaves and sees Ash again early into the Hoenn era.
