I don't really mind the new anime but I have a huge problem with the classmates and Samson.

Everyone is just...there. Each new protagonist had some sort of goal in mind. (Misty wanted her bike, Brock was a breeder/now an aspiring doctor, May and Dawn want to become top coordinators, Max and Bonnie want to become trainers themselves someday, Iris wants to become a dragon master, Cilan a S-Class Sommelier and Serena wants to perform and Clemont wants to be stronger and invent stuff that will benefit Pokémon.)

You can make the small arguement that Kiawe wants to compete in trials but we have seen him participate in only one trial so far. Otherwise what do we have? Mallow wants to be a chef, Lana wants to go under the sea with balloons, Sophocles wants to...program? I mean what do these characters actually offer besides comedy? They aren't interesting at all and it makes me dislike them for no good reason.

I also want to remind you that Sophocles is Max with Clemont's talents stolen.

The only character I think makes sense to be there and is atleast trying to be interesting is Lillie but that's because the plot of the game mostly revolved around Lillie and the Aether foundation. I think she'll be fine.

And then there's Samson. He should've never been the principal or simply not make puns. And I know I'm going to get a lot of shit for this and even if I don't want the dub, the puns are untranslateable. The other thing is, it feels really forced.

I guess the series has a Best Wishes syndrome, it's supposed to be for younger children in comparison to XY&Z which had a much darker tone.

The only redeeming things about this show, is that Ash kind of kept his XY competative spirit. You may not agree, but it's definitely there. Also Team Rocket is the best part of this show. Ash and Team Rocket are the only redeemable qualities that keep this show atleast interesting.

I have three theories.

One is that the writers don't really know how to handle a standalone special. We could see her participate in a contest but I don't think it would be good enough for an entire episode dedicated to her. The other option is her meeting Iris when she's after Rayquaza but that would make it an Iris special.

They are probably still toying around with ideas on how to handle her special episode. I can imagine why that would be so difficult since nothing is really a satisfying "finale" for her. The Clemont/Bonnie special was a wreck too because it was not about Clemont and Bonnie, it was just filler.

The second one is, the writers heard the screams of the fans wanting her to return. There probably was a special planned but it never came through because the writers have intentions of bringing her back.

It will likely never happen but I never expected Ash to go to the Kuzco School either.

Which doesn't make sense. Tomioka, Omode, and Matsui all work on SM which all wrote Amourshipping or Serena episodes. It's not like they axed all the writers from XY like Yajima left and there's a new writing crew in this series.
