What's wrong with surfing? I don't understand

I loved the Surf music in Gen 2, if there's one thing I always look forward to in the games it's a new Surf theme.

Is it the same as walking speed in Gen 2? For some reason I feel like it was and in later gens it was running speed or faster which is why G/S/C's feels slow.

it really makes no sense why they made and kept Strength as a Normal-type move this whole time

You fix its problem entirely by making it rock-type. That's literally it. Change the description to "User rolls a boulder in the foe. Can also be used to roll boulders."

this is the easiest thing in the world to do. Sure it's stronger and more accurate than Rock Slide after this, but Rock Slide flinches and has a niche in doubles.

It's not like Rock is even broken. A grad total of one type resists Shadow Ball but it's far from broken

Because Strength is the essence of super-human strength to push large objects, that's what the Gen 2 animation was shown a huge boulder chucked at the opponent. Making it a Rock type makes no sense.
