This is objectively false. I'm a gen 5 fan, and this is fucking wrong. The gen 5 anime was utter shit. SM may not be great, but it has a few redeeming qualities. The only redeeming quality of the gen 5 anime is Krookodile, and that doesn't happen until the end.

I actually agree. BW was crap, but it at least tried. It made an effort to tell an interesting story, and while it mostly failed, there was at least some good stuff there. SM isn't even trying. It's content to be mostly plot-less "slice of life" and lazy comedy garbage. I'd rather the series try and fail than not try at all.

Not really. Outside the Don battle tournaments Iris only got very few focus episodes. And if you count the Don battle tournaments as the same thing as Contests in terms of screentime, even then there were only 3 of them. And as said since everyone competed in them, Iris only got 1-2 battles in most before it focused on Ash, Cilan or the rivals battles.

Even outside the Contests, May still got a number of filler episodes, or eps that focused on her capture/evo of her 7 pokemon, or eps she shared spotlight with Ash, or eps Drew appeared outside a contest, or the eps she shared with Max, etc. Also May still to this day has more on-screen battles than any companion after Dawn.
